North would be the ultimate beneficiary of this Tax Laws Before selling you Farm Product outside your State, put your VAT and make sure ist remitted in your state. gabbytabby:True, they aren't VATable but they can find a way around it. That's where the processing comes in. You don't VAT my Cocoa but not beverages and Chocolate My Cotton is not VATABLE but the Cloth is VATable. I will process my cotton to Textile My Groundnut is not VATable but the vegetable oil is VATable My Tomatoes are not VATable but the Tomatoe paste are VATable. I would start Tomatoe processing company. What happens to Transfer Procing agreement with processing companies in other states, that is direct share of profits. Don't sell to Companies if they don't agree to your state being part of the value chain. If Agricultural and Mineral resources is what the North has, they have to build their economy around it. It's not in Nigeria interest to underdevelop anywhere in it |

They should channel their energy on Boko Haram, bandits that have been causing insecurity in their region. Priorities first |

omowolewa:They don't tax them that's the issue, typically farm produce are taxed the minimum because it's a critical sector. Government even provide subsides to drive down food prices in developed climes. The north has been too parasitic for too long, ask them the contributions they made as regards to the federation account they are sharing every month you will find a negligible contribution not to talk of VAT and other issues. Imagine them taking VAT on alcohol how? When they break and destroy alcohol sold in their region and still want the tax from the alcohol funny people |

We will pass the Bills, even if Heaven falls. Even if no single Senator from the North and South supports the Bill, we will still pass it. Once SP Godswill Akpabio says “those in support say Aye”, if no single person says “Aye”, then silence means acceptance and consent, then the Ayes have it. If you like bring out guns on the floor of the House, once Godswill Akpabio pronounce God’s Will, it becomes LAW. Ogun kee una Mama. Instead of bringing together your best brains to scrutinise the Bills and see how you can propose adjustments and modifications that will favour you, and if all you have in your states are serial killers, you can employ Consultants from any part of the world to help you scrutinise the Bills. Once you don’t do that, but you think you have any means of stopping the Bills, then you are damn for life, because we will pass the four Bills even if no single Senator besides the SP supports it. You don’t know the new Sheriff in town, he is the head of the Mafias, so no kindergarten cabal can stop him, he is the god of Politics and Strategy, he is Emilokan Asiwaju Jagaban Omo Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, won n le l’eyin, oun le ara iwaju |

The proposed tax reform would have been a welcome idea if the current economic hardship is not biting so hard. The proposed tax reform should be put on hold for now. |

NothingDoMe:Food is even VAT exempt, the problem is the businesses aren't formal where their income for the year can be traced and taxed as part of corporate income tax as well as employees income tax. Something is definitely wrong for a place like Kano that is tuoted to have same population as Lagos and even more not having up to 50% of employee tax when compared to some other states that is not Lagos. Are there no businesses there employing people? No, they only have the mindset that even if they don't work there is federal allocation to be shared from the resources of others...There are lots of ways government make money but they ain't ready to explore those means because of fre money, it's time to make them work for their money. |

NothingDoMe:North has the capacity to produce many other things apart from food, especially raw materials for industrial production. They should buckle up instead of whining every now and then. Their lawmakers seem to be intellectually lazy. These particular tax reform bills have been making rounds for months but they didn't take any serious action until this late hour. Below is an advice I posted on this forum over a month ago: 👇👇👇

simpleseyi:Who are you to speak on the helm of affairs? Lagos is budgeting trillions, Sanwo Olu flaunts a wristwatch of ₦200 million while Lagosians are trapped in slums and grinding poverty. Meanwhile, Tinubu continues to amass obscene wealth at the expense of the people. Your so called new sheriff is an incompetent fool with no direction. He removed fuel subsidies and floated the naira, plunging Nigerians north including south into unbearable suffering. He claimed that the Port Harcourt refinery is operational which turns out nothing but propaganda designed to mock people like u. This disastrous tax policy isn’t just devastating the north it will ravage southern states, including the parasitic southestern and impoverished Ekiti state. This government’s is reckless and curse, these charlatans enriching themselves while the nation crumbles. |

alanto: Elliotwaveforec:How can my state generate revenue when the environment is not conducive to business due to Tinubus retrogressive policies. there is huge disparity in electricity access across the country. lagos and ekiti state enjoy nearly 99% access, while northern states like Taraba and yobe receive less than 10%. Even a major state like Kano struggles with less than 50% meager electricity access. So tell me, how can the North establish industries and generate revenue under such conditions? |
