Why? Because this is not 2023. To start with the o Lu way they run together is Atiku/Obi. Secondly Atiku will be 81 in 2027. Elements in the North may be determined to get rid of Tinubu but they will not want to install Obi through the back door. Thirdly it is not a certainty that PDP will give Atiku the ticket. Which means even if they join forces in another party, we may still end up with 3 strong contenders ala 2023. He may get the PDP ticket but the northern forces decide to float another party. I can’t see ElRufai for example in bed with Atiku or Obi or in PDP. Infact he swore that even in death he can’t be found in PDP. While politicians say all sorts of things, while ElRufai is controversial to some, he is actually a man of integrity. BTW, I am a big big fan of ElRufai.

Finally the North have never been fans of Atiku, please check his results in past elections from 2007, he has never done well in the North….ever!

The North may be making noise now but I will not be surprised if 2027 comes and they grudgingly back Tinubu (if he runs). The truth is they are checkmated. It is in their interest to let Tinubu complete his 2 terms if he wants and know they have 8 clear uninterrupted years especially 8 years that the SW will not fight them over. If you look at the political permutation since 1999. No one has become president without the Votes of the SW except 1999 itself. Jonathan lost because the SW switched their votes to Buhari. The north being the students of politics would have noted this.

PS: another thing to bear in mind, not all political elites in the North are against Tinubu. Many know the reforms are needed, many are quiet, a few like Jibrin are speaking out in Hausa to their electorate in favour of the bill. So let’s not assume this is a fair accompli, 2027 is a long time. All this will be forgotten. Did Buhari not win 2nd term votes from SW despite herdsmen/ farmer clashes in the SW, did his people not vote for him despite hardship in the North?

If you are a student of politics you would understand the North is the strong power broker here.They need either the SW or SE to make a president but they always tend to align with the SW as they share common ideology and interest but most of the time never true friends.But for 2027 Tinubu has more advantage cos he only has one term and they know power will return to them in 4 years.Obi doesn't have a chance with the north and atiku is has useless because his structure is already been taken away from him but he doesn't know by those in power.Tinubu still have the option of rigging but will do it cleanly.
