How many persons were prosecuted during the Abacha's regime or any other military regime in Nigeria? Why the surprise?

The only person prosecuted was Hamza for allegedly killing kudirat Abiola and he was set free by the court of Appeals for lack substantial evidence.

After alot of reseatrch and digging, I found this info about him as at 2020

"Colonel Frank Omenuko Omenka (I think he was dismissed in absentia, not Rtd) – Not sure iif Bamayi had him retired before he fled.
He is around 62 years old now.
He goes by the title of professor these days.
He lives on the coast in Pedra de Guaratiba neighborhood, west of Rio De Janeiro – Brazil
he runs some businesses including fishing boats.

He attended the church of Sao Pedro Apóstolo until he accused the pastor of trying to sleep with his then 26 years old girlfriend. The case was dismissed and he also lost the appeal."

Wow! Imagine, he is still making trouble there. I need to seek him out. Or better through his children sef.

Hmmm! The military era was far worse in terms of handling protests. They had their good points though.

Frank was never the Director of Military Intelligence but the Commanding officer (CO) of the security group, a subordinate unit under the DMI.
He was arrested at his Bourdillon Road house in October 1998 and was badly beaten up.
Frank always had a Brazilian Visa as his partner is Brazilian and he frequently travelled there.
He lives in Pedra de Guaratiba, a neighbourhood in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He became a professor and runs several local businesses like fishing and real estate.
He was involved in a scandal whereby his much younger girlfriend was seduced by a local pastor.
He could not be brought to face justice in Nigeria due to Brazilian extradition laws
He speaks enough Portuguese to get by in Brazil

This part is not true. He did not go AWOL before Abacha died. He was very much in service, but was arrested and detained in 1998 as soon as Abdulsalami Abubakar took over along with other senior military officers who thought themselves untouchable under Abacha.
