Did even read the carefully and meticulously planned piece b4 making your comment or your comment was triggered by the appearance of the word 'igbo' in the headline?.

Let me tell you for a fact now that the first state that may collapse by the very the this bill is signed into law is Osun State
But osun state is not complaining about the tax reform bills. How is osun now your concerns? Tax reform bills is necessary at this moment. Please focus on yourself.

Igbos have nothing to gain in Nigeria, rather, they have everything to loose in Nigeria.

They should also reform the oil and gas bill to allow states to generate and manage their resources…if ite’s not working let’s go out separate ways!
Stop making yourself the center of attraction, no one sees you. Nobody ever mentioned that the tax bill is about the Igbos. Rather, the Northerners are the ones claiming victims. Why do you guys have to think everything's about you?

Don't mind that one. Can't believe our governors see public service as a poverty alleviation scheme. What's the purpose of paying salaries if the employees are not productive? That shows you how empty the brains of many Nigerian politicians are. Sit back and wait for allocation to be shared at the end of every month.

Nobody meets Tinubu in person and goes back poor
mumu boy you think everybody is a pauper like you. My boss was one of the founding fathers of ADC in 2005/2006 which metamorphosed to AP and later APC. Boni haruna, jolly nyame, ngige, Ben Obi tinubu and many other politicians were coming to meetings in Atiku house then Julius Berger built for him as Vice President at Oba akenzuah street in Asokoro close to mtn office. Tinubu is a short man that is black like charcoal and looks like a human black toad in real life with okpolo eyes. I never saw saw him with a single police or army or DSS then. He comes with very rough , tattered tall guys with automatic machine guns. That was the era he was fighting with obj over new LGAs he created while Obj was chasing Atiku. Infact there was a meeting my boss couldn’t attend, he asked me and I told him why . When he looks at you the way his eyes are you will think he is looking above you to a person behind you. I had to turn around to the first time. Atiku was the one sharing dollars at the meeting not him. Anything you don’t know ask elderly people or your parents and they will tell you better

Not for savings account.
Petty traders use such accounts to start off life.
Tell Tinubu to back off.

Every single policy since he came in has been to add more impediments on the paths of struggling traders. And that is starting to look like its deliberate. There are no set of people that have witnessed more attacks under this regime, than the traders.

The dollar madness has basically crippled their abilities to source for foreign goods that can not be produced here. Many of them basically don't import anything anymore. Then you add the fuel subsidy removal, which has increased the cost of transporting goods from one location to the other. Check the cost of transporting a 40ft container from Lagos to Aba today. Compare it with what we had under Jonathan.

He should back off ahbegi.
He's squeezing the life out of hardworking traders. At this rate, it's starting to look like he wants all of them to become agberos.
Bro, stop capping nonsense. Using tax ID for account opening is a state policy and not federal. If you've got any issue with that, face your state governor and stop displaying ignorance publicly.

You haven't read the bill.
You know nothing about the bill.

Obi that ran 🏃‍♂️ away from PDP primaries is a useless coward.

Only Tinubu had the balls to defy all odds and flogged President + Vice President + Senate President + Party Chairman + CBN Governor COMBINED.

I am also impressed. All of the Southern states have been really supportive. That is nice even if it’s for this one time.

I don’t think Tinubu care about re-election much. But he should make sure he complete everything. State police is a must and some restructuring should take place before 2027.

I think allocation to oil producing states should go up to 30%, FAAC dependency has made our states poorer because it stiffen real growth.

$5k you work for is better than $5k you got for free. Thats exactly why money don’t last long in yahoo boy’s hand on average compared to those that work hard to earn it.

If the new tax bill pass and you make the derivation 60% based on the actual consumption in those states, nobody will reach a governor to add value to goods, bring in more private guys that can boost their state productivity and hustle.
My fear is that Tinubu's gains wouldn't be sustained.

All his policies will be reversed as soon as the North takes over.

Nigerians, Blacks in general don't think long-term.

You are just like some of those in the North who oppose the bill but have not read or know the provisions of the bill.

Having a tax ID does not mean you pay tax. It is just so the govt knows how much you are earning.

People earning less than 1m (a year) will not pay any tax

Small businesses with a turnover of less than N50m a year will not pay any tax.

People earning less than 800k a month will have their taxes cut by half.

People earning less than 1.7m a month will also have their taxes reduced.

Those earning more than 100m a month will pay 25% up from 19%

So you are just foaming at the mouth in your usual ignorant manner that you have become known for on Nairaland.

PS: By the way Ohaneze just emphatically endorsed the tax bill.

Eg , if I recharge my Gotv , the vat will go to Lagos which hosts the company headquarter instead of Enugu where I base ?
That is what's is obtainable now, but the new law will look at the place of consumption not where the headquarters of the company is located.

For the record Tinubu is so tribalistic and trickish in nature those clamouring for this Bill of controversial tax reform to be pass doesn't seems to understand the lifestyle of Tinubu I repeat as an Igbo man residing or doing business in any part of Lagos this bill will Hit you more than every other person I've lived in Lagos enough to tell you this . This controversial tax reform bill have to be thoroughly scrutinized before considering of even passing it that's my stand those telling you of southern unity should have thought of that before forming alliance with the north to kick President Jonathan out of office. You should know the people you're dealing with and what they are capable of doing.

As for me as an Igbo man and Obi supporter, I personally don't like Tulumbu's government one bit, but I'm beginning to actually like T-pain as a person. It seems Tinubu is so far the only Southern leader who has the balls to stick a finger up to the Northern hegemony without fear or favor. For long the North have been allowed to get away with a lot of things in this country and our useless and cowardly Southern leaders would always suck up to their nonsense all in the name of currying Northern interest for political experiency.

I doubt even Obi would have the heart to take and implement some tough national decisions and measures that Tinubu is taking right now.

Nigeria must move on with or without the North, it's time for every subnational and state government have complete accountability for the running of its respective state's, it's time for state governors and legislators to actually stop being lazy by always depending on FAAC allocations from Abuja (which majority end up stealing without any evidential inputs and audits on how these monies are spent for the well being of the people).

It's time for certain states to stop leeching off on taxes generated from other productive states while they bring nothing to the national coffers of the nation, if this tax reform bill will force some useless governors, LG chairmen, and house of assembly legislators in the South East to sit up and start working knowing that there will be more visibility and consequences for their actions from the people since the excuse of "not getting enough allocation from Abuja" will no longer fly, then I think it's only smart for every logical thinking Igbo person to support the bill to be passed, and I hope our SE reps don't slack on this one.

Local Government autonomy, tax reform bills and the only thing left for Tpain to implement is state police creation and we might just be heading towards restructuring and fiscal federalism for the first time since regional government.
And this, my people, is how to play opposition politics.

I wish, moving forward, this place can be full of posts along these lines.

Abuse his person all you want, but acknowledge what President Tinubu is doing to make the country better.

Add the fact that your candidate Peter Obi might not have been able to but still support him anyway.

This poster has written stiff down in a legible, easy to understand manner to everyone on all sides of the divide, what is there to debate against?

Thank you for this, I am glad I never left Nairaland despite imbecilic Obidients almost succeeding in making me do so.

Another nugget, this one from an unexpected source, and those are the best ones.

Thank you once more.

Uncle, it never went to Enugu in the first place. Currently VAT is collected on behalf of the FG and they share it across the federation.

So in short, you catch fowl and it shared among your Papa and 36 more able brothers before they drop the leftover for you.

The new tax reform is not only for the South East but for all Nigerians.

The message is clear, the new tax reform is a wake up call for the state governors, legislators and the LG chairmen to start working smartly as they can no longer depend on FAAC alone
And Vat won't be paid from source/manufacturing companies again. It will paid at the point of consumption.
I support it.

The new tax bill also proposes an increase in the VAT from 7.5% to 10% in 2025, by 2030 it goes as high as 15% which will invariably increase the cost of goods and services on which VAT will be charged. And, of course, you and I know all too well that this cost will be passed down to the final consumer.
Did you factor this into your calculation too? Or you don’t believe that will also inform the price those companies set their goods?

—It also proposes reduction in corporate income tax from 30% to 25%.

—Companies with turnover rate below 50million are exempt from paying income tax

People are just picking the part they feel favours them and not the whole reform in general. Remember vat will be increased which will be pass to end users so are we really ready for that with chronic hardship in place already.
Govt should put the horse first and not the cart, it will still somersault like other evil thoughts policy, People are already loosing their lives because of high prices of essential goods like drugs n what have you. We are minting poverty in droves already

Don't be naive. This is a 700 page document that ought to be published for all Nigerians to go tru. You are commenting on one aspect. Do you know other aspect. Other hidden clause. Don't trust tinubu. Remember he is same person who protested against subsidy removal only to remove subsidy. He is same person who shouted restructuring for 16 years but today is finding it difficult to do restructuring
Tinubu had to stoop to conquer, the greatest beneficiary of subsidy isn't the people. It's the oil cabal. You have to lose battles to win the main war. Do you know how the stronghold of the North is on Nigeria. You can't break it except you pretend to be on the inside.
This VAT, is it not restructuring already? They have not done the main restructuring, ordinary petty restructuring, see how North is opposing it. Even if he proposed restructuring, it's your senator and mine that will pass it into law. It means the constitution has to be adjusted. He is president but he doesn't have the power to singlehandedly restructure Nigeria. He is doing it in bit and pieces and through the back door. Please southerners stop being a clog in the wheel as well.
