Now everyone should eat from his or her sweat not from other sweat. Awon eleribu. |

NLCreator666:When I was young Kano and Lagos were neck and neck economically….go and verify. Look at the disparity today. They don’t want development. Keeping their population jobless and poor means they don’t have to engage their brains as a leaders just collect allocation and chop and clean mouth. Whatever the GDP of Lagos is now is what Kano’s should also be. Kano was a trading hub for all the surrounding countries in the Sahel and that made up for its lack of a sea port. But alas!! Sharia law and Almajiris is all we hear! Dangote’s grandfather became the richest man in Nigeria sitting down in Kano. His Grandson had to move down to Lagos and establish most of his businesses outside of Kano to become the richest man in Nigeria. |

This is a lesson for all the states in the country. Provide a safe environment for businesses to thrive, dont force companies to relocate to Lagos, there is no reason why a company owned by a Northerner, Southerner or Easterner should site the headquarters in Lagos. Truth is Lagos is very accommodating to businesses. States never encourage outside businesses to thrive the harass them and chase them out. A typical example is the new Dangote refinery that was originally set to be established in Rivers State, what happened? They chased out. Now see the consequence. The era of going to Abuja to share allocations of revenue generated by other states in coming to an end. Each to his own. State creation should be based on the ability to generate revenue not on political sentiments based on leaching on others. BAT means business. |

NLCreator666:You can imagine - Kano state assembly is against the Tax Reform Bill. Coming from a state that practices Sharia law where consumption of alcohol is prohibited but the Sharia states receive share of consumption tax and value added tax on the alcohol through the current tax income sharing system. If a tax is not generated from your state, why would you want to share in it. Is that not pervertion of the tax system. When the new Tax Laws are in place, you would have to improve tax collection in your states, drive FDI and local investment into your state to be able to generate more tax and earn more from the government sharing. Where are the textile companies that were in Kano state? You killed all of them and you were OK with less companies operating or paying taxes in your states and now you are complaining because you have been reaping where you did not sow for years. I remember that when Shoprite exited Kano, the major reason given was cost of doing business in the Ado Bayero Mall in Kano and the patronage. The mall was billing Shoprite in Dollars for Rent and Service charge, isn't that ridiculous. I can still bet that the mall owner were short paying taxes over the years, that is if they were not filing financial loss annually to enable them pay the least minimum Company Income Tax. The breeze don blow, we don see fowl yansh Let the North cry me a river on these Tax Reform Bills. I see through their Lamentations. |

Kano assembly rejects the bill? I can't remember anyone asking for their input. This is not constitutional amendment. |

mikeapollo:You should have a rethink if the northern leaders ever think Nigeria will continue the way it has always been for them they should get ready for the shocker or start planning their exit ... what's wrong wit the bill why they want to reap from were they have not sown .. Pay tax based on Consumption Jurisdiction not on production Areas isn't that not sensible enough.. Why do you want allocation from revenue from paying electricity bills while we know most of you don't pay . Tinubu would place those leaders on their toes and the end goal would be taking this country back to Regionalism at worst balkanisation ..Local Government Autonomy is just the beginning followed by Tax reform. |
| Re: Kano Assembly Rejects Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills by hopexter(m): 11:11am On Dec 03, 2024 |
Frigga13:You don't have sense at all. You think Lagos gives a Bleep if the bill is accepted or not? This Vat has been introduced in Lagos during Tinubu times as governor and Lagos government is benefiting from such Tax reforms. You think Anambra and Abia with renowned markets and business will not benefit from the bill? The VAT bill advises states to keep what the make and help reduce reliance on other states and federal government. |
| Re: Kano Assembly Rejects Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills by Omodua(m): 11:42am On Dec 03, 2024 |
kafeii123:Exactly. Our mumu in the South Don Do! Let this Tax reforms Bills sail Through. It's good for the health of the nation. You destroy alcoholic drinks. Shares from proceeds arising from VAT. And you expect people to be happy. Shari'a states are the problems of Nigeria. They're the progenitors of Boko Haram insurgency and other banditry activities in the country. They should accept the reforms or exit from Nigeria. Haba! We are tired of their shenanigans. |

Wait oo, why is he planning to bring in his son? For this reason alone many Afonjas are already supporting arewa underground to help them stop Iragbiji man from willing lagos to his son. |

Frigga13:Thunda faya all parasites... We know you mallams would want the Igbos and yorubas to continue bickering...we know you want the south disunited...that JuJu don expire. You unproductive bunches cannot continue to hold the south to ransom anymore... only the north is against restructuring.. only Una dey against resources control... only you northerners are against true federalism... Only you northerners went to court over offshore oil proceeds, other people's resources o!!!! Only you people are against constitutional change... | Re: Kano Assembly Rejects Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills by kafeii123: 7:49pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
Omodua:Yes o..let them keep breeding terrorists in their villages...the more people leave the area, the less VAT they can get ...the more businesses leave, the less money they can make....the more they make laws that probihit persons from no/other religions...the more they will lose money.. |

This is good. Inasmuch as we ain’t Tinubu’s fans but this is good. I saw the news where hisbah(abi wetin dem de call themselves) were happily destroying drinks(I’m not a drinker) but that’s bad for business. You destroy those drinks and expect to share in its VAT?,,,nah! You can’t eat your cake and have it. Tinubu kudos on this one |
