Very remarkable one from Tinubu , it's high time governors start fending for there States
and start working on making reforms and policies that will help develop there respective States.
So if you make your region hostile to investors and tourist, then that's your business.
With these tax reform no more pot bellies for politicians and head of govt civil services but smart bodies because you don't want to look like a glutton before a potential investor .

I concur.
It should help propel states to see themselves as the next industrial hub from where goods sold all over ecowas and west africa is manufactured.
I hope this your assertion is genuine as it's being said; if it's so, Aba and Abia state will benefit from the reform. Aba is doing well in production of wears.

Your first point is subtle but very important.

The other two pale in significance.

I have learnt more on Nairaland over the past two days than I have ever since the elections.

There are still pockets of nuisance Obidients, bitching about Tax reforms because of election loss, all over the place but thankfully they are becoming easily identifiable.
Cowardly act is when you have your target right in front of you but choose another elsewhere

I'm yet to read Peter Obi on the tax reform, the entire northern leadership has voiced their opposition to the Bill but cowards like you that are raised to see no evil or hear any evil from your masters up north would chose to attack any person or group but your very enemy

The Tax Reform still won't make an oil rich state like Bayelsa with less than 10 million people rich. The level of corruption by the political elites in Bayelsa is alarming.

Becoz it's a way towards the restructuring Southerners had been campaigning for.. The 1999 Constitution is long overdue

You are going to make some people hate it by supporting it. You should have tried reverse psychology on them.

Start posting about how you hate it and watch them fall over themselves about how great it is.

Having said that, a lot of Obidients are impressively positive about it. I nearly fainted reading AfonjaConehead's take on it yesterday.
Man you talk too much get off this thread and let the rest of us see space to comment. what a talkative !! Are you a woman? Or you dont have a job? undecided

The fear of President Tinubu's policies is the beginning of wisdom. His policies is unacceptable to the masses

I don't believe Tinubu on this tax reform. Nobody knows his agenda cos all his policies have never affect the masses positively. I'm from South west but I say NO.
You are right. The same way I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. APC and Tinubu can not be trusted. By the way, I'm from South West too.

I have companies making below 25 million so I have selfish interest in the bill... I don't want government in my pocket.

I might be naive tho as that is the only part of the bill I gravitate to

Two reasons. Tbough I earn more than the 800k a year. (Meaning I will continue paying tax) It makes sense that people earning less will not be taxed going forward.

Second reason is. Most of the time when VAT stats are released it feels like Lagos generate most VATs, like other states are not trying to do much, mean while these other states are constitutionally shortchanged for Lagos.

It's a welcome development. It will also give a real insight of activities going on in the states. And the states will be richer.

It's an insult to a place like Imo to be said to have contributed meager N200m in VAT whereas most of the things consumed in the state were unjustly taxed by Lagos, Rivers and Oyo.

The proposed bill is fair. Very fair to all.
I see Ogun earning way more in VAT generation than it's presently doing. Same for other states with population and commercial activities.

The richer you are the more tax you pay. The poor pay absolutely no tax except VAT on purchased item which is not a bad idea.
👍🙏

What has election got to do with tax reforms why are you even mentioning obedients ? Are you Yoruba's scared to look the north in the face and talk to them? Why do you always have to hide your face when talking to the north? You couldn't look the north in the face when they were on a hunger protest, you came out to say igbos gaslighted the north to protest, when will you cowards become brave enough to look the north in the eye?

exactly my fear, none of his policies has had a positive impact on the masses rather than hardship. How are we sure this one is gonna be any different, meanwhile someone need to break down this tax reform whatever to me in a layman's way let me get it clearly cos I don't seem to understand it that much.

They hate the tax exemptions North have been having privileges to for years yet they don't want to commend any of the government moves.

I was in support of it before but after critical thinking and realizing how Yorubas and Tinubu supporters are making it look like Lagos state that earns highest tax earned it by it's own power or making. Lagos is what it is today because of Nigeria's investment in Lagos. If Yorubas don't believe this, let them seek for a total division of Nigeria so every region can have their own country, and after 20 years let them come back and tell us how rich Lagos remained.

Lagos and Ogun state are earning higher tax because of Nigeria's investment in Lagos state as our national economy capital. Ogun state is benefiting as a result of its proximity to Lagos.

Before we can start a tax reform of this manner, we should first ensure equal distribution of federal government infrastructures and agencies in the 6 geopolitical zones.

The only thing there to adjust is that Northern states should stop criminalizing alcohol sales in the name of Islam while expecting to share from VAT gotten from alcohol sales in other states

when they make shoes sell and make profit. They pay taxes and that means more money for the development of Abia. That is only possible if the money Abia state govt and people laboures stays largely in Abia and not goes to sokoto or jigawa.

It is only bigots and ignoramus that will not support tax reform based on existing situation in the nation.
These are parts of the restructuring we have been clamoring for and has come to stay.
