Please, what should be my next step? I paid for my visa appointment on November 6th, and it was approved on November 8th. However, my preapproval request has been stuck in "processing" since then. How can I expedite this so I can get a date? Should I go to the embassy to complain? I have already opened support tickets on the website and sent an email to nigeria@usvisaappt.com. My school resumes on January 9th, and I am supposed to travel on January 4th. |

armstrongenefol:Here’s a structured approach to address your situation and potentially expedite your visa appointment: 1. Confirm Processing Timelines Normal Processing Time: Check the typical processing times for preapproval requests in your region. Sometimes delays are within the standard range. Embassy-Specific Information: Visit the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria's website to confirm if they have provided updates or notices about processing delays. 2. Follow Up Strategically Track Existing Tickets: If you’ve opened support tickets, continue monitoring them for responses. Include your receipt number, application ID, and explain your urgency clearly when following up. Use Social Media: Some U.S. embassies respond quickly to inquiries via their official Twitter or Facebook accounts. Politely inquire about your case or delays. 3. Escalate the Matter Contact Through Alternate Channels: Call the official U.S. visa information and appointment services helpline for Nigeria. Their contact information is listed on the site. If possible, visit the U.S. Visa Application Center (VAC) in person for clarification or assistance. Seek an Expedited Appointment: If your preapproval is granted but no dates are available, you may request an expedited appointment online through the U.S. visa application portal. Be prepared to upload supporting documents like your school’s admission letter, travel itinerary, or a letter from your school confirming your resumption date. 4. Leverage Institutional Support Contact Your School: Reach out to your international student office or designated school official (DSO). They can write a support letter explaining the importance of your timely arrival. Senator or Congressional Help (if applicable): U.S. embassies sometimes respond to inquiries from U.S. government officials. Contact a senator or congressperson in the U.S. state where your school is located for assistance. 5. Consider Embassy Visit Visiting the embassy is usually not recommended unless it is explicitly allowed. However, you may call the embassy to confirm if in-person inquiries are possible for such cases. If permitted, ensure you have all your documentation, including your payment receipt, DS-160 confirmation, and proof of correspondence. Suggested Timeline Given your tight schedule, prioritize: This week: Follow up on emails and support tickets, and contact the helpline or VAC. Next week: Escalate via social media and consider reaching out to your school for assistance. Critical Documents to Prepare DS-160 confirmation page. Visa appointment payment receipt. Proof of your program’s start date (e.g., admission letter). Letter explaining your travel urgency, signed by your school or a sponsor. |
