Yes I support the bill because you can not reap when you did not sow is impossible if zamfara in the north lay claims to a mineral resources and share from oil revenue from other states is cheating.
It enhances each state for development through revenue generation from east state.
It will stop collecting money from Paul to pay Peter

I don't believe Tinubu on this tax reform. Nobody knows his agenda cos all his policies have never affected the masses positively. I'm from South west but I say NO.
Only a short sighted one attack reforms because of a politician. To you Tinubu may not be trusted.

However, the reforms will stand even the politician that formulated it left office. If the tax reform is going to be good for a rewarding future of this country.

Separate your trust and the goodness of the bill for national interest. Politics and governance are different things.

YES.

The Tax reforms addresses imbalances in the polity. Tend to favour the low income earners.

It Will enable the states to buckle up instead of relying solely on Abuja for monthly allocations. They need to work hard to take care of their states' needs and infrastructure.

You control your resources accruing from your region and pay tax to the center.

If you don't generate enough funds for the state, you will suffer. Thus, Hisbah police will be careful destroying beer and alcoholic beverages which the state enjoys from taxes derived from VAT.

Only enemy of Nigeria will kick against the The Tax reforms.

Tell me one good policy that Tinubu has introduced in his almost 2 years in office that benefited the masses. All he has been doing is to subject the masses to hardship and suffering. You may be eating on his goodwill but remember you have family that will also suffer from Any policy the man may introduce

Tinubu's policies will pay off later, not now. He's doing all this to right the wrongs that past leaders were scared of, and the purpose is to remove the bottlenecks that is stoping Nigeria from growing economically.

He understands very well that things are hard but we need to suffer momentarily to get to the promised land. It's not easy for him as well, you can see the anger on him but he's ready to take all the bullets to get Nigeria to grow.

When he's through, his policies will lift up this country economically for the coming generation. The man is an economic mathematician and he knows exactly what he's doing. People have been saying this but I didn't believe it until now.

If what Tinubu is doing today had been implemented by other presidents since 1960, we'll have been living in paradise in Nigeria today.
Paradise indeed. People are committing suicide everyday due to his hard policies and you are talking of paradise. Believe that Tinubu is working to better Nigeria at ur own peril. Tinubu is only after his pocket and nothing more.

1M. Any states claiming they have the numbers should use that number to generate taxes not population that is a nuisance to the general Nigeria.
2. Hisbah is destroying alcohol in the north, whereas, VAT generated from sales of alcohols in North Central, Southern Nigeria 60% of it goes to those states destroying the alcohol.
3. Oyel money from South is for Nigeria while Gold in the north is for northern politicians bandits
This guy done talk my mind. God go continue to oyel ur head with wisdom.

I don't support anything from Tinubu's government cos all their reforms are targeted at ripping off the masses.

When fuel subsidy was removed, some people argued that it would help the government save money and channel it to other sectors for development.

Today despite the trillions they've claimed to save, they're still borrowing up and down. Worse is that we're not seeing what they're using the billions of dollars they've been borrowing to do. They just borrow and loot. It has gotten so bad that a reps member called $2b lunch money.

Should I talk about the floating of the naira, the increase of electricity tarrif, the increase in custom duties... I can go on and on.

None of these policies is currently benefiting the masses in any way. So what makes you think that the tax reform would?
You gat it

Everything tinubu reform is just to deplete the income of the people

From subsidy to wallet charges

For the most talked aspect of the bill - Vat, let each state control her vat

He's just to send bill for removal of Vat from exclusive to recurrent

All this first collecting then sharing, are they not tired of it

Take your emotional card out of this discussion.

Mostly, reforms usually comes with some difficulty, if it is not reflecting positively now does not mean it won't be beneficial in future.

Governance doesn't work by abracadabra, it work with long time planning and it getting worse with lack of a long time planning that forced Nigeria into this regressive situation.

Issues of public administration is not base on emotion. It's base on what is good for the country which those that short sighted of the vision presently will gladly appreciate it in future when positive results are obvious.

Because it rewards hard work and identifies lazyness.

It will also reduce the near absolute dependency on (oyel generated) hand outs from central government.
Tricksters by birth grin All of them are out everywhere canvassing supports for the bill they know will favour lagos
The bill has nothing to do with oil revenues and the sharing formula, and thus, won't reduce any dependency
If infact, states like lagos want to keep the huge VATs generated within their borders, while still taking part in sharing the oil revenues generated in other states
We're rejecting the yoruba-sponsored bill intoto

I concur.
It should help propel states to see themselves as the next industrial hub from where goods sold all over ecowas and west africa is manufactured.
Yeye talk. How is that possible when Nigeria itself which has been receiving trillions of naira in oil revenues from 1960 till date hasn't been able to do that?
Which favourable manufacturing environment in the country as a whole will enable that?
Are states now independent of the federal govt?
That's how you gullibles deceived Nigerians into thinking subsidy removal and naira floating would trasnform their lives

when they make shoes sell and make profit. They pay taxes and that means more money for the development of Abia. That is only possible if the money Abia state govt and people laboures stays largely in Abia and not goes to sokoto or jigawa.
Shoes, shirts, blowse, boxers etc are being produced in mass and moved to other parts of Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

Your first point is subtle but very important.

The other two pale in significance.

I have learnt more on Nairaland over the past two days than I have ever since the elections.

There are still pockets of nuisance Obidients, bitching about Tax reforms because of election loss, all over the place but thankfully they are becoming easily identifiable.
Let us avoid politicizing this discussion or introducing divisive narratives. This policy is not specific to Tinubu; it is a federal government initiative aimed at addressing the needs of all Nigerians. If we truly want meaningful contributions and constructive learning from this important topic, it is crucial to refrain from name-calling or assigning labels. If the policy is beneficial, let rational individuals support it based on its merits. Conversely, if someone opposes it, that does not imply they are against Tinubu's administration. It simply reflects a different perspective or understanding of the policy compared to its supporters.

I support the bill because l think taxes are an essential
part for nation building. We need to have better health care, roads, public transport, schools etc to function as a country and taxes are needed to maintain those facilities. My worries are on the auditing and transparency of the taxes,if the bill is finally passed.

100 % support because everyone will now think of how to produce and sell their okpa instead of eyeing the percentage in mama Nkechi's okpa.

Those envying Lagos for being former Capital will also remember that Calabar once was, and North is currently enjoying that status as we don't know whose turn it'll be tomorrow.

So that shouldn't come into the argument at all.

Many states in the North have LGAs in excess of 40, even though most of these LGAs are ghostowns . Time to justify the huge number of useless LGAs.

I support the Tax Reform Bill because it makes state governors to seat up.

Also it allows states that doesn't support alcohol and night clubs not to benefits from the proceed.
Re: Do You Support The Tax Reform? If Yes Why? by Slimm01: 3:30pm On Dec 03, 2024
I will suggest that VAT should be captured and calculated from where the goods are consumed, if the 60% adoption of the new VAT tax bill is gonna make sense. There are some states that consumes less product of a company, but because the headquarters of the company is situated in that state, they tend to be the sole collector of the VAT from the products of that company. That's unfair.
