Lol...its so obvious you don't have an idea of what you are talking about. Angels from heaven will run the local governments for you, abi? Oponu
Are there angels running the American system or other functional systems? Bring whatever visionary leader you want and put him in the local government system with this current structure, no progress will be made. I have to teach you these things because you clearly have no understanding, yet shamelessly arrogant in your ignorance. Just parroting words.

The tailor-senator's speech though reflects the character and the stealing objective that propels most Nigerian politicians. No public official in a sane clime will remain in office after making this reckless statement because of the people's backlash. But he has spoken the situational truth peculiar to Nigeria which underscores the importance of enthroning the right characters in government.

The senator's statement is representative of his crowd in government and suggests that policy formulation and implementation in Nigeria is founded on selfish interests and not for the public good. In this instance, their support for the tax reform bill will be to devolve corruption to the local government level so that more money is made available at the lower governance strata for stealing. What a thought!

This senator was a poor tailor in Kaduna and dubiously rode on the vehicle of anti-corruption activism to power only to turn back to annihilate his poor constituency. He is now a billionaire but was in the pit of penury during his days of activism and climbed the ladder of corruption to the top when he found himself in government. This is typical of most Nigerian politicians. Do they have a conscience at all? When will they allow people to live well through transformational, responsive, and inclusive governance founded on the tripod of justice, fairness, and equity?

This further confirms to me you are limited in knowledge. How easy it was for you to pick the US without stating that there are strong institutions to ensure accountability, probity and transparency to the people and pick up errant rogues within the system,at least to a great extent.

How easily you avoided countries that practice rigid ans stronger central autonomy but are thriving. Denmark changed its local government system on 2007 to a stronger centre and they're thriving, China,Singapore and to sone extent, Japan(with a stronger perfecture system) dont complain so much about local government automomy for them to see progress. Only buffons like you think Nigerias only solution is local government autonomy.

I am sure you got this off some fellow dimwits like you discussing publicly, very likely at a newspaper vendor stand near your ghetto in Mushin or Ajah bus stop in Lagos, and gbam!! ....by a stroke of misfortune, .myou all came to thought that Local government autonomy is the silver bullet to all the structural, economic and political solutions in Nigeria. This same way people in 1978 thought the Presidential system would solve all Nigerian issues ans jettisoned the Parliamentsry system...only for them to be valling for the return of the same Parliamentary system of givernment again as echoed by so many public commentators recently.

You all are daft. The system of the government or structure will always be as good as the people running it. Oponu!!

Here you go rambling again. Your gibberish is of no consequence, but I owe it to myself to teach people like you.

Whether you like it or not, if the LGAs are not autonomous, meaningful progress cannot be made in this country. The LGAs are the base and development must go from bottom to the top, else you will keep running in circles. People fit into the structure in a place. A strong institution is also a structure. Who is the visionary leader you want to put in this current local government structure that will transform it? Either you have totally lost touch with reality or do not understand the problem at hand. One thing I'm in agreement with is that your oblivity is outstanding.

You must adapt solutions to your circumstance. Not copy and paste. This is Nigeria, and presently one of the solutions to the underdevelopment bedeviling the country is autonomy to the LGAs.

Daft....see his stupid response devoid of facts, statistics and logic, just pure assumptions and illusions.

Get the best of governance system here, if the institutions to curb the excesses of the politicians are weak, results will still be the same.

How come people of the countries I highlighted to you are enjoying super life without local government automomy? Something must tell you that it is the people that make the government and not the government that make the people.

Get local government autonomy with the thieves you have now as politicians, it will still be failure upon failures.

Oponu.
