Even if he said it then in 2019, did he stop the government from going ahead?

It's unfortunate to have some people bringing back something Oyedele said 5 yrs ago. A serious government would pull through if convinced it was in the public interest.

Buhari government wasn't serious about it and that's why they dropped it.

Just watch how Tinubu would pull through notwithstanding the opposition.

There is nothing he said there that is different from what the tax bill states.

The tax bill does not propose an increase in VAT but that the collection point should no longer be collected by the FG on behalf of all the states in only Lagos, rather the collection point should be in the state where the items are consumed.

then after collection, instead of the 15% that the FG used to get, they will now be collecting 10%, then the states that used to collect 50% will now start collecting 55% while the LGA will own their normal 35%.

Please note that the tax bill is even more than VAT issue, but in this case it is VAT we are discussing.

Ezewuzie01:
There is nothing wrong with that. People change their minds often as situation on ground necessitates. Tinubu himself was once against fuel price hike under Jonathan but has now shifted ground with his total subsidy removal.

The tax bills are necessary and must be passed into law.

I can bet anything that if this policy was created by a PDP govt, tinubu would lead and sponsor protest against it.

Such a duplicitous character cannot lead any unified nation.

But these are two different issues.
2019 VAT increment proposed is different from this current proposed TAX bill.
Can't people spot the differences in them....why was it that the Northern governors did not try to stop that proposed 2019 VAT increment(because it favour them in their multiple taxes)
Now that we have another TAX bill that want to take care and deal with these multiple taxing and some other anomalies on TAX and VAT, they quickly rushed to media because it affect them.
Let's everybody go their way... Northern way is far different from southern way.

Apart from food, medical and education are other areas that benefit everyone not just the poor that are not VATed

He said increased in VAT without reducing VAT on basic consumption to zero is bad.

What he just did is to reduce VAT on food and other basic consumption to zero. Who is hard to understand?

Bloody wicked hypocrites.
You are the one that is a dullard who can’t read.

Check his statement in 2019, it still hold true.

Did he not propose zero VAT on basic consumption like food and etc? Is that not what he opined in 2019 that an increase in VAT without zero VAT on consumption is bad?

Dullard too plenty for this country Nigeria.

APC and hypocrisy! Same Tinubu that protested subsidy removal during GEJ admin, telling him to let the poor breathe, but today? He has not only removed subsidies, but he's busy taxing the hell out of both the living and the dead, while still borrowing trillions!

Tufia!
Pls what is all of you education level? Go back to that same 2019 and check is their anywhere the poor are protected in the proposed Bill? Hell No. Go and read through you will see the templates then are not proper comparing to the current templates. Pls read and stop talking blablabla.

Yes Tinubu protested against subsidy which I was angry about then but when Buhari came to power subsidy became demon to the point that bitch called Usman made so much dollars from it to the point begging Buhari to remove subsidy because he has made too much money from it or you want to pretend you didn't hear about the news? The SS where oil stays, live and breath pls name one SS indegene that made a dime from oil subsidy? None, so you want SS that owned the oil to be roasting and one mallam using private jet filled to the brim with dollars from oil subsidy to continue enjoying it ba?

Here we go

Is this bill increasing tax or reducing it? There are even so many exemptions self

The target of this bill is to have more base which will generate more income while at the same time convenient for the tax payers as there would be reduction based on extension.

There are no exemptions with Buhari's VAT initiative not even Tax which is broad based

Make una stop pettiness about the tax reform bill . Over reacting can lead to explosion, harmattan dey oo

Tax reform arguing with VAT.. Illiteracy na indeed a disease
Have you read the entire 213 page tax bill?

I'm not in support of any vat increments, but is this Tax reform bill the same as vat increments?, before we start any sentimental and ignorant attack on any issue we need to understand what the issue is all about first.

Context! Then they wanted to hike VAT with no corresponding tax relief for the poor. This time he has excluded the poor from taxes.
Mwhenthe VAT increase then would hurt the poor they passed it. Now that there is VAT increase, they say they need to consult. When they removed fuel and forex subsidy these governors didn’t remember the masses because they were getting more from FAAC. Now that they will have to work to generate their money they remmember the suffering of the masses.

Yeye dey small

To quote Seriake Dickson:

“When yaradua proposed 10% for oil producing states, National Assembly reduced it to 3% and heaven did not fall, this tax bill will pass and heaven will not fall”

Tell your governors to get to work, the only states that will get less money are Lagos and Rivers. The real problem for them is that while all states except rivers and Lagos will get more money. Their share of VAT going forward will remain stagnant if they don’t deploy their funds to develop their states. The days when Lagos Rivers, FCT etc will provide infrastructure to attract investment and high income residents and the increased collection of VAT as a result will be shared with lazy state governors is gone!
Think before you type no governor is hard working and no governor is lazy they are all feeding fat from the masses especially Niger delta oil money .
You can ask me why did I say so

Hows this any different from what oyedele is pushing now?

As for the reactions, the average IQ of Nigerians is 67, so if you take random internet opinion seriously, I'm afraid you're not smart yourself
But you're an average Nigerian yourself are you not? So how should your opinion be taken in this context?
