We had not envisage that this was going to be pushback from the other states; we thought the pushback would come from Lagos mostly and maybe a little from Rivers. It almost like we ended up with the people we are fighting for are now fighting us. - Taiwo Oyedele on rejection of Tax reform bills from northern states.

So true. They prefer N50,000 today to N1,000,000 tomorrow morning 6:00AM. It is the summation of the witchcraft mindset that has kept Africa back.
They should be fantasizing about how much they will make as tax when they finally start converting their vast raw materials into finished goods locally, and that's aside employment opportunities it will create. Instead they are looking at what they may lost temporarily before bouncing back.
It is clear they have no plan to industrialize the north for employments and opportunities. The focus is to keep their people poor and use a common enemy, manufactured and sustained along religious line - the south, to bankroll their elite lifestyles.

The northern elites are not with their people on this and are just using them against the government.

It's expected because their politicians are benefiting from the skewed sharing arrangements and aren't willing to become more enterprising and productive.

For their populace, you see lots of southerners talking about how to leave the country, travel abroad and support their families. But the northerners don't bother because they are content with living in a state of lack.

Good reforms die in the hands of mere political figures who do not place delivering good governance as top priority.

The disaster and massive failure We have for president has already wrecked his image. Aside his Apc online zombies in reality people hustling on the streets of Nigeria know how he has messed the Country up in such a very short period of time.

If You try inform the average Northerner on the benefits of the reform, they go tell you se all them know na Tinubu na barawo.

The people don't trust T-pain, He has failed woefully making bubu look like a smart Genius.

This exactly is the issue with this bill. A good sndnprogeess8ve idea being pushed by a criminal will always be fraught with suspicion

The bill is fantastic but because it is being pushed by a looter criminal in Tinubu, it will suffer abortion. As it is, he will not win any election in the North easily.

This whole situation cracks me up! grin

The ‘entitled and favoured’ north are highly suspicious of that tax bill! But even if you hold a gun to their heads, they couldn’t tell you exactly why they’re kicking against it…..just that since Tinubu is pushing it forward so vigorously and hastily, then there must be something hidden in the small print which they’re yet to find and which favours him and his region over and above their own north! shocked
