And this elderly man came out in public to speak up about this crab.? What a shame!! If I can interpret what the man said in layman's terms. In his press release, he stated that the federal government and the country should continue to move at the pace of the northern region and share other productive state treasures for the northern region region so that all states of the federation can move at the same time. A typical example of this type of statement is that a Dangote in this country should continue to share their profits with the Indivisual in society who is literally poor, whereas Dangote continues to live his life at the pace of the poorest man in the country. |

Paraman:What kind of lie is this? Ikorodu? What is Ikorodu generating compared to Eti Osa, Lagos Island and Apapa LGs? Nor dey talk rubbish abeg. The guy is right. All the infrastructure and industrial presence in Lagos is as a result of it being the former capital. Do you see how much FCT is generating as VAT? |

Ignorance quotes from an IPOB. VAT generated in Ibadan is more than the combined VATS in all the southeast states. That is a clear sign of productivity. pandax: |

To make progress you need to first start from the Truth. Only then can we make headway. Let every state start bearing economic consequences for their actions and inactions. |

iwaeda:For how long will you northerners keep saying this? Before independence, you guys kicked against early independence cos of inequality between North and South, its been over 50 years and you are still singing the same tune ,then it shows you guys can't be trusted even if we give you another 50 years to play catch up with the south , I think it's time we all go our separate ways . |

So Ikeja was also part of former FCT or what? You don’t even know what area of Lagos was former FCT. You’re so ignorant by clubbing everything together. You spoke of seaport, the seaport wey don dey there even before amalgamation. Shey seaport no dey South South too ni? You talk of airport, na only Lagos get international airport? Lagos today is by far the best run state in this Nigeria. I mean by FAR! |

richmond500:Miscreant, if your own governors in sadwest are really working, then tell them to go for full resource control, and not to cunningly secure VATs for themselves while still having shares in the revenues generated from natural resources in other states |
| Re: Tax Bills Will Deepen North-south Economic Disparities – Arewa Media by mikeapollo: 4:38pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
richmond500:Stop being myopic. Lagos is big today only because of FG investments in the state. Most people working in Lagos today were attracted to the place because of prior investments by FG when it was the federal capital. Headquarters of banks, companies, embassies, air ports, sea ports, railway etc. were established there and these led to further developments that attracted more businesses and population. A similar thing is happening in Abuja. So you cannot be talking as if the Lagos state government is doing well because it is working harder than others. Any other state that had what was given to Lagos by FG would also be rich today. |

Kukutente23:Lekki area i.e, some part of Etiosa was formerly Western Region land. Apapa was also Western region land and not the capital. Infact, the port was established 1913 and the construction of the 1st deep water berthed started in 1921 long before Nigeria move capital to Lagos. There is no infrastructure in Lagos that FG did not provide in other part of Nigeria. Seaport exists in the South South International Airport exist everywhere SE have two Niger bridges. North has military headquarters and federal roads. Before Nigeria, Lagos has always been an economic destination due to her location. |

festacman:I disagree with you. Lagos cease to be fct over 33 years ago. Without visionary leaders, Lagos won't be what it's today. The number choice of investors in Nigeria We have ports in other states too. We have two in Rivers state, delta has one, ondo is building its own Ports is no longer in the exclusive list ...any state can have its own port |

mikeapollo:Not FG, but visionary leaders that has provided an investment friendly atmosphere. Lagos ceased to be fct more than 33 years ago. Was it fg that is building the rail station...was it fg that did BRT etc |

Paraman:Yes, lagos had been developing before Nigeria was created. But by who?? I hope you won't ascribe the development to your lazy kinsmen?? Lagos was named by the Portuguese who used it as their headquarters and take-off point for their slave trades. Again, the British used it as their headquarters during the colonial era. These 2 different groups of foreigners initiated the development you're talking about. Apart from federal investments, the strategic location of the city helped it to attract overwhelming investments from individual Nigerians from all states, cooperate organisations and foreigners. The Enugu you're talking about, how many investments do your kinsmen have there, when compared to lagos which has massive Igbo investments? If your kinsmen developed the city, don't you think they would have used the same hands to develop Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, oyo and even Ogun that's just nearby?? Nonsense! |

What has created and will deepen the disparity is the intellectual laziness of the governors and the sheep like tendencies of the northern middle class. But give them their due, both groups are experts in the creation, storage and distribution of acute poverty. |

festacman:I don't think you understand the mentality of this northerners. States down south are far better than those in the north. This guys don't care about bringing investment in their states, they don't empower their youths to engage in small scale businesses, only to empower them to get married and give birth to almajiris in the society. They Don't like work, always waiting for allocation from federal government so they can loot and share among themselves. And majority of that allocation is from the south. So who's fooling who. Is high time their leaders wake up and do the needful, they have vast land for any kind of business or investment. No more parasite and host kind of system. That reform bill must be passed. Simple. |

festacman:What is this one saying? Is it the Emene industrial layout that has become a ghost town and churches buying over factories that you want to compare with Oyo state. Alot of factories even closed shop and relocated to Ogun state. As it is today, Anambra is even more industrialised than Enugu. I know the two cities like the back of my hand, so what are you saying? |
| Re: Tax Bills Will Deepen North-south Economic Disparities – Arewa Media by festacman(m): 4:59pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
Alliswell248:If only 60% of revenues that accrued to Lagos was devoted to developing Lagos State, the State would have much sophisticated than it is. It is the same for all the states of the federation. There is so much underperformance and looting across board. |
