If you were more exposed you should have known that Ports are a National Remit.

No state can wake up and establish a port without getting permission from Aso Rock, permission that may take 20yrs to approve.

Nigerdock is a private company. Tinubu is not responsible for that.

Lagos State is planning its own port at Badagry too.

Can you tell me what Ondo State is doing with its vast coastal areas?

A state that should have relocated its capital to the shore since 1999 and construct high speed cargo railway lines from the shores through Igbokoda-Okitipupa-Ore-Ondo-Ikare-Akoko, to terminate at Eti-Ose with dry port for onward movement of cargos towards the North?

It takes visionary leadership to get our states working.

What are governors (past and present) of Delta, Bayelsa and Akwa-Ibom doing not to have their own ports since, no matter how small the port is even if it will warrant partnering with private investors?
Having such ports would aid importation and exportation of goods and raw materials.

Our state governors are the major culprit of underdevelopment in Nigeria. That’s why people leave their states and face Lagos and making Lagos congested and over populated.

Nigerian maritime and logistics company Nigerdock has completed an agreement with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for the commencement of operations of Snake Island Port, an 85-hectare, multipurpose port facility comprising three terminals located within the Snake Island Integrated Free Zone. The concession is for a period of 45 years with an optional extension.

Nigerdock’s chairman and CEO, Maher Jarmakani, said: “Snake Island Port is a landmark collaboration between the Federal Government of Nigeria and Nigerdock that will bring in $1bn in foreign direct investment and further enhance Nigeria’s position in international trade.”

Snake Island Integrated Free Zone is an economic development area located in the main harbour of Lagos.
