With the connivance of some unpatriotic Nigerians, Chinese criminals illegally mine our minerals. My grouse is that we sometimes do not hear the end of the cases. A report in October by Dataphyte highlighted that local communities and compromised regulatory officials are involved in illegal mining. If you steal from or cheat a community to build big house and buy cars, thinking you are empowering your children, it is those you stole from who'd burn down those things when they get frustrated. For example, in February 2024, it was reported that EFCC had seized 12 trucks of lithium and 41 suspects were arrested. What happened to the lithium and what happened to the suspects? Even our crude oil that was stolen for one month and sent to Equatorial Guinea during Buhari's tenure; what happened to the crude oil? What happened to the suspects who operated the vessel? What happened to the real sponsors? The suspects were released! President Tinubu, we need you to find someone like Buba Marwa or Buba Marwa himself and put him on a special task force on illegal mining. Buba Marwa is too effective in NDLEA. He don try. |

Richtaiwo:No wonder you get plenty insults here. If not that you are a complete olodo, you’d not quickly forget the activities of gold miners in Osun state, which has lasted several years. |

ElevationD:Insults and curses by ipob subhumans don't mean anything to me. Shukudi, you can join the insult, I don't read quotes by frustrated beings. A good sign of frustration is when you quote someone and make a comment completely unrelated to the comment you quoted. |

Very poor journalism. How can you write a copious thesis like this without mentioning what mineral or item that was being mined? Is it crude oil, gold, bauxite, iron ore? In Zamfara, no one gets arrested for mining gold. Bandits collect mining fees openly and foreign nationals with their Nigerian collaborators mine for free. They even own an airstrip that allows airplanes to pick up the gold and deliver arms. |
