There are many billionaires in the Southeast who are very frugal. They have hundreds of millions sitting in their account but live like beggars. They neither drive good cars nor dress rich.
Thats ok, abok#s also do that, but when it comes to long distance journeys dats very rare & an anomaly, no matter how frugal, someone that has N100,000,000 sitting around would not take this kind of risk. Except they absolutely have no choice.

One of my mentors was also very frugal man, dude even lives in a rented apartment & only uses small motocycle "our ladies' but even him, when traveling long distance ALWAYS takes flight & if it's somewhere not far & safe, He personally pays me or one of his friends to drive him

This is quite sad.

I'd never advice anyone to do a straight roadtrip from Lagos to Abuja. Never!

There are two options:
1. Flight.
2. Road/Train ride.

I did Option 2 recently when the flight fares skyrocketed.

Take a vehicle from Lagos to Agbor, they should drop you at the Agbor park where you can board a vehicle/bike headed to the train station. Use train from Agbor to Itakpe/Ajaokuta in Kogi State and you're less than 3 hours from Abuja. At least, one will avoid the kidnapping hotspots at Obajana, Okene and environs.

I used cab from Lagos to Benin (10pm to 4am),
Got to Agbor at 6:30/7am, just in time for the train ride which was scheduled for 9am. Got to Ajaokuta at 1pm because there was a slight delay in the train departure, entered Abuja at 6pm.

I was KIDNAPPED and robbed together with other passengers of a "benue link" Bus from Ibadan by fulani bandits on my way back to Makurdi, benue state along itobe-ajaokuta road in kogi state on October 13 and held in captivity for 5 days. All my possessions were taken from me.... funny thing is it happened just a few metres away from an army check point...Thank God for life sha...
No one can tell they don't know what is going on there.

My friend happened to be among those that they kidnapped. Surprised that the authorities and GIGM are not doing much. Will not talk much for security reasons but the driver escaping and the kidnappers requesting that my friend's wife should bring the 3 million naira they bargained in cash to a certain location in lagos. There is much to this, I pray that my friend to be free first.

That's how transportation companies moved in the late 90s
Level of Criminality in the 90's can not be compared to what is obtainable now.

Nigeria hasn't evolved much in terms of dealing with criminality, that's about the only way for now, even politicians and billions still use escorts

Have they been released? We haven't heard anything about this unfortunate matter since then.

Thank God that they are free after paying the ransom. The kindhearted kidnappers even dashed some money to my friend's brother who brought the ransom money. Funny abi 😂
