Tinubu's Tax Bill : Northern Nigeria Contributes Nothing Fallacy by TrainPark(op): 5:36pm On Dec 07, 2024
There has recently been a largely ignorant and misguided narrative being perpetrated by a section of the press and some bigoted and ignorant individuals that suggests that Northern Nigeria is a 'leech' and has always dependent on the resources of other regions for survival.
This view is myopic, ignorant and self-serving at best because it seems to suggest that Northern leaders are against the new tax law because of laziness and the north has not and does not contribute anything to Nigeria.
It is disturbing because some yoruba people believe erroneously that lagos was built by some imaginary ingenuity and intelligence unique to them alone when in reality, Lagos was developed by the combined resources of other Nigerian regions as a former federal capital. The self-serving and ignorant argument is as illogical as saying the northerners built and developed Abuja the present federal capital of Nigeria.
Tinubu has Harrogate to himself the nonsensical title of "builder of lagos" when lagos was in reality already built up by resources that came from the commonwealth of Nigeria.
I share a sneak peak at the level of contribution to the central Nigerian government by the various regions to provide some context and to burst the bubble of arrogance and ignorance of some people who are obviously suffering from incurable superiority complex and grandeur illusion.

Perhaps this might provide some context to why the north feels it is unfair to perpetrators arguments that suggests they do not contribute and have been dependent in other regions.

Omo... So SE contributed to NIGERIA more than the SW? Tomorrow, one bloody loser will be calling the SE barren?

When I tell people that the SW has been overwhelmed by liars, bigots and tribalist it will seem insulting.

This was with the SO CALLED LAGOS, they claim was California in 1930's.

You mean there was Roboto and Calibri fonts as far back as 1939? You guys should learn to tell intelligent lies and stop rewriting history so desperately.

If they had that level of contribution it would have been the south that will be merged with the north to help the south catch up.

Hmmm....not surprised!

Someone is making reference to stories of 1939 in 2024!

As an intellectual researcher or intelligent author (assuming you are one), I expect you to know that when you write a book or you extract information from somewhere, the source should be quoted to give credit to the real author. (I'm sure you are not even aware of that).

I'm just trying to let you know that the world has gone beyond where you are as well now live in the jet age (21st century).

In the year 1939 you just referenced, there were no computers, no phones, no Internet, infact, it was long before the independence when the affairs of Nigeria was still being run by the colonial masters. How then are you crediting the contribution to your people?

This is 2025. I think you should fight more for development and infrastructure.

It's either you jump on the train or you are left behind.

Peace!
