A recent update on X has left many Nigerians reeling, as the new policy requires users to have at least 2,000 verified followers to monetize their content. Verified followers, however, come with a hefty monthly fee for the users themselves, making it even harder to gain such followers. With many Nigerians relying on this income to survive the economic hardship under President Tinubu’s administration, the policy has sparked a mad scramble for verified followers.

Some Tinubu supporters are now considering aligning themselves with the Obidient movement, hoping to leverage Peter Obi’s popularity to attract verified followers.

“Egba mi o! Elon Musk e pa mi o!” Lawyer Tunde screamed as the update notification popped up on his screen. He abandoned the steaming plate of amala and ewedu he was devouring, his hand frozen mid-air, dripping with soup.

“What kind of wahala is this?!” he bellowed, staring at his phone.

Meanwhile, others were already adapting. Bukky, a savvy X user, claimed she had already cracked the code to thrive under the new update.
“The moment I removed Tinubu’s picture from my profile and replaced it with Peter Obi’s, it was like a miracle! In one hour, I gained 20 followers - 3 verified and 17 unverified,” she explained.

“But wait, it gets better,” she continued, clearly enjoying her newfound fame. "I tweeted that Obi won the 2023 election but was rigged out, and within 24 hours, 200 verified followers showed up. Everything was like magic!”

Bukky is now confidently expecting over 1,000 verified followers, as she plans to tweet what she describes as her masterpiece later tonight. Her draft, which was spotted and scheduled for publication, reads:
"I’m Yoruba, but I’ll vote Peter Obi. Obi will not only win the 2027 election by a wide margin, but even INEC will rise to give him a standing ovation!”

Sources close to Bukky revealed that she’s also working on a follow-up tweet suggesting that Peter Obi’s victory might inspire Elon Musk to rename X as “ObiChat.”

3 things I picked up from this Twitter saga
1= Elon do not want any shit hole country or it's citizens in his app.
2=Twitter is for Americans, not just Americans but for republicans who are proud and hardcore supporters of trump.
3= African continent is a big disgrace, 2024 and Africans can't even boast of an app used by the westerners. All the apps black folks from shit hole countries rely on are created, owned and managed by their slave masters.

Or do you want to tell me that all the ICT literates in Africa are dumb that they can't create an app that the whites can rely on too?
