Army Chief, Oluyede, Visits Shehu Of Borno, Seeks Support To End Insurgency by TimeManager(op): 8:24am On Dec 08, 2024
Olufemi Oluyede, the chief of army staff (COAS), has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to ending the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno state.

Oluyede spoke in Maiduguri on Friday during a visit to Abubakar El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno.

The COAS praised the monarch for his support to the army in mobilising residents against insurgency in the state.

He emphasised the need for collective efforts towards addressing insurgency, noting that the army alone cannot combat insecurity.

The army chief assured that operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), which has played a pivotal role in the fight against insurgency, would be strengthened to secure lasting peace.

“Your highness, I am here to pay homage to you as our father and to thank you for the role you have played in supporting the military over the years,” Oluyede said.

“We cannot achieve peace in Borno without the support of our fathers and the good people of the state. All hands must be on deck to end this menace and restore economic activities and normalcy in the region.”

The Shehu of Borno commended the army for its relentless sacrifices in the fight against terrorism in the country.

The monarch pledged continued support of the traditional institutions in fostering unity and mobilising support for the military.

He noted that the insurgencies that occurred in the state were perpetrated by external influences disguised as settlers.

He called for unity, vigilance, and collective efforts to address the security challenges bedeviling the state.

“Borno’s history demonstrates the strength and resilience of its people in overcoming adversity,” he said.

Is that a smartwatch the chief of army staff is wearing? Is that good enough for someone of his caliber and strategic importance to Nigerias defence?
I remember watching a Chinese military channel with a Chinese some years back and she told me that there was a government order that their military personnels should not be using western made phones. Obviously they worried they were being tracked. Top military officials of a big country like Nigeria are always of special interests to top intelligence agencies around the globe. They want to know what you are doing and where you are. Gadgets like this make it easy for these neo colonialists groups to predict your next line of actions. And what more? They might be working with boko haram....

You must be joking, there's a tech war between China and US for obvious reasons. There's no country in the world including Russia that doesn't use US software for its intelligence.

What an unserious country. Shehu borno helped buhari to fight terrorist, you all know how it goes, the country is almost dead and until the government start to function then there's no end to this war.

By now agencies like immigration should be rounding up all the illegal chadians, nigeriens Malians etc. A lot of these national are behind terrorism in this country.

You guys always make something out of nothing. Where is the smartphone he is using cos I can't find any. As well, there is no correlation between using smartphone and intelligence gathering.

Oluyede deceiving himself. The emirs are all in support of Boko Haram. He should be careful not to be neutralized like his predecessor.

He meant to say a smart watch. A watch that can also make phone calls, text etc. of course the COAS is wearing a smart watch but it's a nothing rant.

He doesn't know who made the smart watch hence trying to sound too clever for his level.

Even Bible says “there is authority in the words of a king”. Smart move, very clever as the kings directive will be obeyed by the militants. Jagaban really came prepared. God bless Nigeria

That's why he first went to beg them. If the bokoboys now continue, they won't blame him if he start killing them like rats.
