Just like I told the Zubimendi proponents, City's issues are not down to Cole Palmer or what he can bring. He left, City won the league and played the FA Cup final drunk, otherwise, that would have been following a treble season, with a historic 4-peat cosplaying as an English Football double. Even Pep himself admits the current squad would be at the same level of the last season's squad without the injuries. City would be fine. We have some players like Oscar Bobb returning in January. Escheverri from River Plate will be Erling's deputy. Hopefully we sign a Bruno Guimaraes type player that is physical, can cover distance in pressing and can pass. Pep just wants his players back. For the umpteenth time, Cole Palmer himself REQUESTED to leave City. Cole wanted to know what his opportunities were looking like after the treble and Pep said he was going to have Riyad's minutes and then compete for more with the rest of the squad but he wanted more (starter) and offered to go on loan. Pep said Cole was to stay and take Mahrez' minutes or leave the club outright as he would not entertain players going on loan when planning for the squad. Doku (24th August) was not signed as a Palmer replacement. Doku was signed as a Mahrez replacement. Palmer left (1st September) AFTER Doku had come. PS: No shade at Palmer. It worked out for everyone. He got to prove he could be the man (which everyone at City knew as Enzo Maresca has all but said) and City went on to win without him. Pep was never going to build the team around him ahead of KdB, Erling, Foden or Rodri and Palmer is getting more minutes and clout in CFC than he would have ever got at City. Simple. |

Android17:Don’t stress yourself about people asking why Pep sold Palmer. He wasn’t important at that moment, and nobody could have predicted he would become this good. My only issue, though, is Pep not buying any players in the summer. Even if all the players you mentioned came back, they still have an aging midfield. Walker 32 kdb 33 gundogan 34 both Kovacic and bernado will be 31 next summer |

| Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Android17: 3:17am On Dec 09, 2024 |
Singapore1:You are right, City's major issue is the lack of physicality in the midfield. We don't have the players that can cover distance quickly, press, are athletic, win second balls, tackles or stop transitions. What then happens is, opposing players can stretch the midfield with 2 or 3 passes and have the Gundos and Silvas of this world caught in no man's land or simply just run through it like Kulusevski did the other day. That's what Rodri was doing as one man for City, to add to his clutch goals and assists. Of course, Pep is a genius because he has forgotten more solutions than many managers can think of, but he is also insufferably stubborn about his ideas. He believes the only solution is more control. The more we have press-resistant midfielders, the less likely we are to lose the ball for a counter attack, or quick transition. I think he forgets that we are also now vulnerable in corner kicks due to this palpable lack of height and physical presence. Kovacic was the Rodri deputy who could handle some aspects of what Rodri brings but not all, and not usually at the same time. Kova excels at anticipating and stopping passes. Is decent at tackling and being an outlet whilst also possessing the press-resistance to settle the base, but he is not a great passer, not as physically dominant and does not cover the distance Rodri does per game. But even with him, City were still pulling out the necessary wins. Losing Kova, Stones, Akanji, KdB, Jack and most importantly Rodri was just too much to bear. That's why he has been forcing Gundogan to play the 6 role which he clearly does not have the legs for anymore. Bernardo is press-resistant, but does not offer anything else from midfield as he is only 5'5". Rico is the same if not smaller. People can just nudge him off the ball. That's why I said Zubimendi is not going to be the solution to City's problems. We need a Kante-like player but more Bruno Guimaraes than Ngolo, because Bruno can also offer the diagonal switches and forward transitions that helps City progress the ball more purposefully. It is no surprise, of the last 8 games in which City managed to win only 1 and lose 5 of them, Gundo & Bernardo played in midfield. That's the major common factor. No legs to press high up. A distorted press becomes a recipe for disaster as teams can pass through us like sieves and then add the high line, and you see why Tottenham could knack City 4-0. People like me have asked for Nunes to play as the 6 since he has all the attributes to help but he tends to need 2 touches to receive a pass and that is a big no-no for a Pep 6. That's why Pep would rather use old man Gundo there. Pep is obsessed with control. Sometimes and IMHO, to the detriment of his team. |

Chances that you nag more than her are very high, a disturbing quality your drunk father who suffered bipolar disorder passed on to you before his untimely death. B1tch you wanted some attention, here have some, and hey don’t fail to reply with some more asinine comments or your stale “beggar” line, we know you get paid to keep dem boys busy here. Griffon:Before some idi.ots would come here to say why are you guys acting childishly, I never mentioned or quoted this m0f0's moniker or abuse his family members until he posted this. This is similar to how that homeless Ikorodu Sodiki started, by going personal first and when he received the beating of his life, he turned around to lie that I went too personal and till tomorrow he is still crying. Even when I didn't mention your name, you were so pained that you woke up in the middle of the night in Naija to quote me and attack my dad, who is still alive and eating the fruits of his labour while you are disturbing people online begging for funds to eat and smoke. I don't know if your pain is attack vs defence debate-related or because I refused to help you with funds you requested for through my email. I understood you needed money to continue to smoke igboe, like you always did with funds your younger brother used to send to you before he stopped. I am in a happy mood right here and I am not the cause of your frustration in life, if you are tired of how life is treating you, instead of insulting people unprovoked online, pray for forgiveness and do the needful. |
