I visited a hospital for check up, and saw a woman who was coughing, also with difficulty in breathing. Went back there the next day to see her, and I met her crying and very restless.

I engaged her younger sister in a conversation, and she told me a scan was run on her, and the doctor interpreted the result as having a badly damaged right lungs. I asked the woman if she's a heavy drinker or smoker, she said 'No'.

While we were having this discussion, her Pastor came in, and told her that someone poisoned her.

The woman was literally begging the pastor to pray her out from the effects of the poison.

Well, I asked her to calm down, and encouraged her to test samples of what she coughs out - saliva or mucour, that it holds the key to discovering whatever it is that's troubling her.

They listened, and went to a good laboratory, and the test revealed she had Tuberculosis. Needless to say, she was taken to a facility in Yaba that attends to TB patients.

It was a big relief for me and for them as well, knowing that TB is very curable.

She's home now, and preparing for thanksgiving.

My take:

Doctors have the divine mandate to help you recover from illnesses. So, In addition to your faith, listen to your doctor.

But that doesn't mean there can't be wrong diagnosis or result misinterpretation.

Run adequate/relevant tests to know what you are treating. If you can, run the tests in more than one facility to ensure it tallies.

This got me thinking; a lot of people are victims of wrong diagnosis resulting to wrong treatments.

We won't fall victims.
