Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.

Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.

Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.

At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, a Fuji musician who performed at the rally, interrupted the president’s speech with chants as the crowd cheered.

On the campaign podium with the president were Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Pa Bisi Akande, interim National Chairman of the APC; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Senator Gbenga Daniel; among other bigwigs of the ruling party.

Tinubu went further to say Nigerians would defy the acute fuel scarcity at the time and trek to cast their votes.

Tinubu will have atleast one Challenger in the next poll.
And the north is trying to unseat a southern Muslim with a southern Christian in the next poll. If that happens, Muslims would have been president for 12 consecutive years since Buhari, then slide in a Christian in Johnathan for just 4years, so as to have a fully north breeded Muslim president for the next 8years.
12years plus 8years will be 20years Muslim presidency with the christians tasting just 4years within that time.

Whether Tinubu gets to complete 2terms or Johnathan gets to unseat Tinubu for just 1term as president, either way, it will be a loss for the southern Christian.
And the Johnathan card will deliver the worse blow to South if you notice.

So, I will Support Tinubu presidency for 2term over Atiku or Johnathan.
This is the way to go as it will compel the north to field a northern Christian after Tinubu 2 terms to improve their chances of winning the presidency to the North.

It is a good thing that Atiku does realized that the electoral power lies with the people.
And I feel that the people will take all of my highlighted points into consideration in deciding who gets to be the next president after Tinubu.

Any political party that is really serious about producing the next president will not field Atiku or a Muslim as flag bearer.
This will be a big political point that will count alot in deciding which party gets to produce the next president.

Maybe this is what some northern politicians envisaged, that they decided to float the idea of pushing a southern Christian in Goodluck Johnathan forward as a possible candidate that can unseat Tinubu who is also of southern extraction as president in the next poll, knowingly that Johnathan has only one tenure of 4years left constitutionally.
I see this as a political card that will shortchange the christians of the number of years for presidency.

In my opinion, I think Buhari and Tinubu have expended every chance available to Muslims in chosing the next president after Tinubu.

Atiku should know this, retire from contesting the next presidential elections and not waste his time and resources until after roughly another 12 - 16years time.
