This post is specifically about debt profile.
OBJ isn't perfect but how is he responsible for today's debt burden if he secured debt relief from the humongous debts Babangida and Abacha left behind only for Buhari and TInubu to balloon it

Those are the kind of people that always vote in misfit and still defend their actions.
The worrisome aspect is they they are in large numbers in the country.

Could you provide just one verified case of corruption involving Obasanjo? I'm not sure how old you were when he was President of Nigeria, but I believe you’re capable of thinking critically. It seems like you're repeating the same baseless claims the APC used to undermine Obasanjo's accomplishments. Do you really think that if the Tinubu administration found any evidence of corruption against Obasanjo, they wouldn't use it to silence him?

Baba cleared Nigeria's debt when he secured the debt relief for the country...your tin God Tinubu on the other hand has borrowed more than what his predecessor borrowed in 8 years in less than 2 years.

Obasanjo Ole!

You burrowed and stole half of the debt when you didn't have to.

When will you apologize to Nigerians?
Can you provide just one verified case of corruption involving Obasanjo? if not, you are very stupid and ignorant. I'm not sure how old you were when he was President of Nigeria, but I believe you should be able to thinking critically. Repeating the same baseless claims the APC used to undermine Obasanjo's accomplishments is a sign of stupidity. What was Nigeria's debt profile when OBJ left office?

What is it now?

Obasanjo is a thief and apart from what he stole from Yoruba. These are a few of his corruption.

1. The money he and Ngozi Okonjo Iweala burrowed from Paris club while telling Nigerians that they paid the debt.
2. The $16 billion with Anenih for eletricity that was later used for his 2nd or planned 3rd term campaign.
3. The Ibeju Lekki where Dangote is, Obasanjo seized that land before it was sold to Dangote and soldiers killed the Baale and people who resisted the sale.
4. Yoruba farm settlements were zeized by Obasanjo and transferred to Nigeria, one of them is his Ota farm. Obasanjo is the reason Yoruba no longer do large scale farming and starving.
5. The land use act, It was Obasanjo who took land away from the control of the families and handed them to the govt.

There are more but I'm sleepy now, I will have to create a thread on how Obasanjo single handedly destroyed Yorubaland and contributed to the demise of Nigeria.
Apc is not saying anything about Obasanjo, but he's a well known criminal. President Tinubu can't do anything to him becuse he's not the only one, at least not yet.

So before you support people, find out what they have done and stop supporting blindly, so try and use your brain next time.

I asked for verifiable case/s of corruption, and not all these beer parlor gossip without any source/s. If you know this much about OBJ, why not read a book and state all these your allegations?

The reason why we borrow and have been borrowing
1. Government revenue from taxation is not sufficient for a nation our size. Most people do not pay tax because the economy is largely informal

2. Revenue from oil is also not sufficient for a nation our size and has been over the last 40 years at least 80% of government revenues

3. A lack of commitment to fighting corruption by most governments.

Taxes don’t grow countries. Proper management of resources and revenue do. There are countries that collect zero tax and they’re doing fine.

Nigerian politicians tax everyone and everything directly and indirectly and loot all the proceeds.

to build on when the money he left wasn’t enough to actually get roads done.. something he couldn’t use the money to do.. and electricity he spent money on never changed .. even the 2nd Niger bridge money contract was awarded numbers of time but still wasn’t done .. all those money went to air in na administration .. the most corrupt human as far as Nigeria is concern is Baba.. he’s just too scared someone will do what he couldn’t do cause he was working for his Lords as president .. I know OBJ had the opportunity to improve Nigeria, and he tried in his own way, but his main weakness was his desire for another round of four years (3rd term), so he was unable to plan for the best succession. He had to rush, so he chose an already-deceased man to succeed him.

Obj can actually discuss our debt because he has earned our respect in this regard. He employed Ngozi Okonjo and Charle Soludo to get us debt relief, and he paid others, only for President Jonathan, Buhari, and Tinubu to increase our debt again.
yea Baba had the power to make all roads in Nigeria motor able but he didn’t .. Baba had the powers to renovate and bring to life the refineries but he didn’t .. Baba had the power to better Nigeria in power sector but he didn’t. The only time he uses is power was killing people in bayelsa na Kaduna Baba is the worst thing to happen to Nigeria Baba is just a slave to the west . He’s their tools in Nigeria ..

OBJ is himself a significant burden to Nigeria, past, current and next. Shift + Del please.

This fellow had the chance to put Nigeria on a great path of prosperity, instead he gave us that poorly thought out 1999 constitution, instituted do or die, mass scale corruption, and played a fast one on the North by installing a dying Yaradua and a spineless GEJ, thinking to rule by proxy. He didn't see competent and healthy people from the North or South East or even Duke from Cross Rivers to force on us, because he calculated that those ones would have a mind of their own. His only goal is to be father and saviour of Nigeria but he failed horribly at it and started writing letters. Today, he's very angry that Tinubu is going to make him look very useless by the time he's done restructuring Nigeria, a thing OBJ was supposed to do.
Baba na western tools.. na UK slave e be..

And how do you get the resources and revenue? TAXES.

30 trillion naira, largely from oil is not enough for a nation our size.

TAXES.

Let's not just say negative things about someone. At least this is one good thing baba did. He paid almost all our debt. Also, baba reformed the banking system. Without him, heaven knows where we will be today. Also, Baba brought GSM and here we are today with everything. Ha ba!

Baba has his flaws, but he is an achiever. Without baba, you will not be able to use Nairaland na. It was after baba came on board all these things happened.

He left the country with less than $5 billion in external debt, $45 billion in FX reserves, and $35 billion in excess crude oil savings. To replace NITEL and MNET, a new telecom industry was developed.

I guess you're still a kid though..
This man left office with almost zero debt to the country's name....
Although there are some of his policies that became a breathing ground for corruption, most of those were meant for good but the Nigerian human error was what made it what it is.

If only you didn't pollute inec and made it one of the most corrupt federal agency,
2, use effcc to presecute and jail perceived enemies,
3, abuse executive power by selecting court judgement to obey,
4, corrupting the legislatures both at state and federal level to have your way,

5, allowing your friends and cronies get juicy government contracts and appointments without due process,
6, wasting billion of dollars in electric power projects that has left the country underdeveloped and in perpetual darkness,
7, forcing a successor down every Nigerians throat through an extremely flawed election

Maybe, just maybe Nigeria might have been a better place.
I can bodly say you are the cause of the sorry state of the country.
If after decades, you still have this boldness to say he is the cause of your country present problem, then you're nothing but a slowpoke who have nothing to contribute to the growth of your country other than ranting and blaming past leader because I'm pretty sure you will still blame him after 50years if care is not taken. Just imagine the nonsense you are splitting. Indeed, Nigerians deserve the kind of leaders they have

Taxes that end up servicing the political class and a few of their cronies?

The taxation system in Nigeria is a means to fund the luxury lifestyle of our politicians and not to benefit the people. All the taxes that we’ve been paying all these years what have they done with the little as you call it?
