He is right. I paid N100 for a year for a bed space I bought from a Secretary of my school’s VC.

Those staff bought the bed spaces and hoarded them.

It shouldn’t have been more than N40 per year.

They must run the school. CVN don hold their allocation nah.

Professor Georgewill just da do anyhow even after this increment students don't still have hostels. Majority of students pay accomodations out the school as the hostel accommodation not enough to accommodate even 20 percent of the students.

Apart from that, the hostels are very dirty like pig pens, stealing at nonstop.

Ha uniport dat year choba campus (amino Kano block b) pay for my year 1(19000) there about, from year 2 till I graduate I no pay Shi Shi just enta one room begining of a new session and just colonise and arrange that room to your taste period

No wonder they come out as half baked students. If you can afford it, leave Nigeria immediately.

It happens mostly in female hostels doe serious runs aka hookups

Those dirty uniport hostels. I remember Nelson Mandela hostel. It had a smelly gutter in the basement. Yuck!

TimiofAbuja, I now believe you o. Although all those things are practically unsustainable in the long term for any country though.

I will look for my receipt one day and try to see how I can scan and upload it whenever threads like this come up.

We were paying N20 per term as school fees in secondary schools and when government attempted to increase it to N40, we went on r.iot the N20 was maintained for that year before it was eventually increased to N40.

These were schools well equipped with amenities o - lab, tech equipment, art studio, kitchenette and dining, sports and recreation, better library. …too numerous to mention.


Those things are sustainable. It is corr uption that led us to where we are in the country.

Nigeria used to be a super-prosperous county - with very very low crime rate and insecurity.

school hostel successfully? Do you think hostel fee of ₦90, 55k, or so are sustainable? The fact they did it before and gave us almost everything for free doesn't mean that's the right way. I have a Ghanian friend in university of Ghana. In 2018, he asked me how much school fee we pay in 100L, I told him it was 27k (the fee at the time), he exclaimed, 'cos they were paying >₦400000(school fee at the time).

You want the best schools and equipment and you want all that for almost nothing. It's illogical. Education is not cheap! Check how much private universities in Nigeria charge for these things, while they still lack the degree of expertise irrespective. I don't want to talk about overseas universities' fees. In fact, it will interest you to know that most people who leave Nigeria for UK, do so to go study for MSc, yet they always have to sell off properties or set aside a humongous sum of money simply for that.

The excessive dependence on freebies is a poor social habit that a country should never be accustomed to. Unfortunately, Nigeria is found wanting and now it's unsustainable as the treasury bills have nearly been eroded from the subsidies the country has been responsible for over the years.

There can be no free education in a country of 250 million people. That happens in countries with less than 5 million population. Nigerians are bleeped. They just dont know it yet.
