The House of Representatives has directed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command to immediately cease the harassment of motorists and the indiscriminate seizure of vehicles for violations related solely to tinted windows or covered number plates, provided no other infractions are involved.

This resolution followed a motion moved by a lawmaker from Kwara State, during which the House adopted recommendations urging the FCT Police Command to release all impounded vehicles that were seized for these reasons.

Additionally, the House called on the police to issue a public notice granting vehicle owners a minimum 90-day grace period to comply with regulations concerning tinted windows and covered number plates.

The lawmakers emphasized that the grace period would allow motorists sufficient time to regularize their vehicles without fear of harassment or undue enforcement actions.

I was in a public ride when the police started removing the black material from the car. You should see how ridiculous and silly they looked. Police is NOT your friend.

Pls don’t just warn the FCT ones, but all of them across the nation! Every year’s end or new IGP always comes with renewed harassment for tinted vehicle owners. Despite all the harassments, armed robbery and kidnappings are still rampant across the country.

It's a dicey situation. While criminals perpetuate their vices in tinted glasses and you'll still blame police for not doing their jobs should these continue to fester, the comfort of motorists who tint their vehicle glasses may be questioned by circumstances. More like security vs comfort, let's just beware we can't have it all. Particularly for a country facing dire security challenges.

Meanwhile, what caught my attention is the woman who stood up to second the motion. She was asked what motion she was seconding and she uttered, "I don't know, I was just coming"... How could you second what you don't know for God sake? Could your support have stemmed only from a place of appeal by the soft tone and the poise of the man? Good

I don't understand the situation with my country again. Why the agents of one arms of government seem to be doing something to better the situation of the country, the agents of the other seem to be putting spanner in the wheels of the former.

I have watched the video of the Commissioner of Police of Abuja stating categorically that all the victims of one chance car robbery they encountered have testified that the vehicle they entered were tinted and as such even if there is a struggle in the vehicle other road user will hardly know.

In any case why would people just wake up and want to tint their vehicles? I know it gives vehicles some kind of cool looks and all but once it's be coming an issue especially for those whose vehicle tints are not from factory, why not let be as it is?

These politicians will just compound works for the security agencies and then turn around to blame them on it. Not fair.

...some of the people that use tinted glass ..some are wanted person by the police who are hiding from the police..and some use this tinted glass vehicles to hide the person they kidnapped in the tinted glass vehicle so that nobody or police can know a person was kidnapped and some use it for one chance
