Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned a state-of-the art Data complex, to enhance National Security and efficiency of the country’s Migration/Border Management processes. President Tinubu arrived at the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters in Abuja at about 12:08pm and was received by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap. The Data Complex comprises the Command and Control Centre (regular migration), NIS Data Centre, ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, Interior Data Centre and a 0.5KW Solar Power Plant. In her opening address, Nandap, said the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex will ascertain the risk level of persons entering the country, detect irregular migration patterns and monitor unmanned borders in hard-to-reach areas nationwide. She said the facilities are “Setting the benchmark to use technology to secure our borders and ensure the security of the nation.” Present are the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo, heads of agencies, among others. [b]First of its kind in Africa. BATTIC Data Centre. The Data Complex, which is the first of its kind in Africa, marks a significant step forward in the Nigeria’s digital transformation journey. Additionally, the centre is designed to serve as a central repository for the NIS’s digital infrastructure to enhance the efficiency and security of the country’s Migration/Border Management processes as well as National Security. The facility will utilise cutting-edge technology to ensure seamless data management, storage and analysis thereby enabling the NIS to efficiently manage migrant records as well as ensure border surveillance and control. All the money spent on database building and management. Yet, terrorists still kidnap people and get ransom on them. Let me not see any bat coming here to praise this until we see the live result of using this to make our lives better. In any case, it's good they are doing this. But let's flatter them less and encourage them to do more. People are really dying. |
