tenderjunkie:I suggest evaluating only your BSc in Pharmacy because it is a professional degree. A BSc in Nursing is not a professional degree. Even if you add your Midwifery diploma, the total point is still less than your BSc in Pharmacy which is a professional degree. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/read-report.html

Yes, you can choose English as your second language; French is not as competitive as using English. IELTS is not a language but examination body. Silvaplum: |

Swealy:The experience is different for everyone. It is advisable you keep realistic expectations about immigration, I have spoken to people on both sides, people who feel they are favoured and people who feel they are worse off. Prepare, be optimistic. Everybody have their reasons for migrating, for me personally it is not economic at all, not even near economic, for others, it is economic. |

Swealy:Go to Google and find out Canada's unemployment rate. Then go to https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/jobsearch/ and see the amount of jobs that keep getting posted. |

Swealy:Relocating to Canada can be a worthwhile decision if approached with realistic expectations. Currently, the job market is very challenging for newcomers and resident too due to competition from high levels of migration, limited job creation, and a high cost of living. Many immigrants begin with survival jobs or roles outside their expertise while building connections and gaining Canadian work experience. It’s crucial to avoid unrealistic expectations. Settling in, securing a suitable job, and adjusting to the new environment require time, effort, and patience. Success often means being flexible, willing to shift careers, or obtaining additional certifications to meet local standards. The primary focus should be on achieving stability—earning to live and cover expenses, rather than expecting immediate financial success or wealth. With persistence, adaptability, and an open mindset, Canada can provide a safe and supportive environment to build a better life, not wealth! |

Swealy:What is your short, medium and long term goals? What is your profile looking like at the moment? The answers to these questions are different for everyone. So your ability to properly research, evaluate, analyze and answer these questions as it applies to your situation will give you the answers you seek. |

Swealy:Many people that came to Canada for greener pastures with kids, before you ask them why they came!they will tell you they came to Canada because of their children that is why they are here, forgetting that children born here or migrated to canada, will abandon ancestoral roots after staying in canada for years that's bad at the long run, some homes in nigerian villages are now empty because of migration . However Canada is best for children especially Canadian new born children, the government looks after them and elderly, you'll pay your taxes to support this group of people which is not bad. As for the live, there is no live in canada, you will only do shopping and work, and prices of groceries are very expensive because of gst and hst placed on them, your kids is the top priority before work.when you try to make end meet and pay bills, you will find out that, you have no live in canada, yeah live is that bad in canada! As for the work: it will depend on the type of job you are looking for,and income, there are jobs in Canada and same time no job! But with low wage income without two jobs or overtime, by the time you pay bills, car mortgage, car insurance and maintenance , home mortgage, or house rent, phone bill, electricity etc,you may not have much on savings. Whether on high wage or low wage income or status!@ the end of the day,you are only a worker in canada no live.. With PR you can go back to school to upgrade your qualifications is cheap,it is an advantage! But this will add more stress to your live, seeking further education plus work, plus kids, you'll have no choice. Some PR holders are on low wages jobs some obtained masters and Bachelor's degree still went back to school for further studies they have no choice.. Canada weather is the toughest, car is not a luxury in canada, you'll need one for winter!if you can withstand canada winter, you'll be fine.. Temperature is -28°C upto 30° today in some province see my phone screenshot, weather is not smiling 😑 your fingers will feel the frost with or without gloves.. Time for all electric companies in canada to cash out, high bill on electric consumption on home heating. Tighten your seat belt and enjoy the ride ..

Predator188:Every thing you highlighted apart from the weather is far worse in Nigeria. There are people in Nigeria who don't know where their ancestral home is. Go to Lagos and Abuja, you will see people who haven't been to their village or go to their village once in 10 years, so what's the big deal? Which place is more expensive to live? A place where minimum wage on paper is 70k a month and bag of rice is 100k or place where minimum wage is $16 per hour and bag of rice is $80? A cleaner in Nigeria will work for a whole month yet his salary will not buy him a bag of rice while his counterpart in Canada only needs to work for 5 hrs to buy the same bag of rice. You and I know that most private school teachers don't earn up to 70k every month ooo. Maybe you don't pay bills in Nigeria, you get things for free. You pay for light, yet you buy fuel for generator, solar panel, inverter etc just to have light. Buying recharge card for calls, is it not phone bill? Aren't you paying for the calls? Calculate how much you spend on recharge call monthly, that is your phone bill. I can go on and on. Tell me what service you get free in Nigeria while others in Canada pay for it. When I was in Nigeria, I pay for my estate security ooo, is that one not bill? As for weather, winter is bad. However, it is 4 months not all year round. Besides, the same way you cope in extreme heat is the same way people cope with the cold. You have to do what is neccessary which is wearing thr right clothing's and having heaters on. At some point, winter wouldn't be a big deal anymore cos you would have adjusted to it Look, there are legitimate and sound reasons why it may be a bad idea to migrate abroad for some people especially through study route but majority of people putting their mouth in this matter on this forum are just dishing out very unintelligent and dumb points that can't stand any logical test. If you want to convince people, then bring solid reasons not dumb reasons. This is why our effort to discourage stupid migration is failing cos people think we don't want them to come. Imagine someone earning 500k per month in Lagos today, you are going to spend 1/5 of your monthly sweat on just 1 bag of rice. This is why I ask, do you guys actually believe in what you write or just saying for saying sake? |

Predator188:many of us that grew up in Lagos, PH, Kano, port harcourt don’t know the road to our villages. Last time many of us went was for grandparents burial. Many villages in south western Nigeria are already looking deserted before japa wave started. Some of us have while in Nigeria didn’t see some of our relatives for year. What is even special in the ancestral roots ? Can you tell us the name of your ancestor in 1810? Canada is expensive but you will eat well , access health care and still have constant electricity. 10 litres petrol for generator is now 10k in Nigeria, full tank for car is over 60-80k . Nigeria is now harder than ever. Anyone that can japa should not even reason it twice. |

Kenn55:Before I moved to Canada, my friend told me the truth about life here, but I felt he was discouraging me or putting fear in me, just like you are now. However, now that I've landed and two years later, I'm quiet. What the man wrote above is the perfect truth that most people will hide from you, so accept it or reject it—just prepare yourself. Seeing is believing. No comment. Welcome to Canada ![]() |

Predator188:Chairman, I beg no vex, as regard if you read any negative comment here as most people in Nigeria who are about to come will see your write-up as discouragement because I was in the same shoes when my friend told me exactly what you have said. But you have spoken the perfect truth, and only the wise will see it as wise counsel to prepare ahead. Thank you once again. |

Predator188:Knowledge is power, if you don’t have it, you will struggle every where not only in Canada. If you failed in your research you don’t have to start painting the system as bad. There is no system that is perfect but that of Canada cannot be compared with Nigeria. I would even rate Canada above the UK for an immigrant. |

orjohn24:Abeg no vex what exactly is the perfect truth people are hiding? That the country is cold during the winter? Or you have to pay your bills? Things are expensive? The question is are they more expensive than Nigeria relative to income? The problem here is unrealistic expectations as a result of the greedy nature of the average Nigerian. This is why many Nigerians believe that once they just land in another man's country, they will become millionaire. Anybody with sense knows that nothing is 100% guaranteed and should be able plan based on that when leaving their comfort zone. You don't need Anybody to tell you this basic life fact. This is why I have always maintained that migration is not for everyone. You need to be sure of your short, medium and long-term goal then do a comprehensive research aligned with your personal situation to see if it makes sense based on your goals. If it does not then abort mission instead of wasting money migrating only to start complaining and making it look like someone deceived them into migrating. I don't want this thread to be derailed with unnecessary argument, this thread is for people who have made the decision to migrate and need guidance on the process |

Profgordons:Knowledge is power, but after reading through the conversation here, I can categorically say that you lack knowledge and the ability to comprehend. The writer has provided a well-detailed explanation to guide new arrivals and help them understand the reality of life in Canada, not to discourage, but to educate. However, the typical Nigerian 'gra-gra' and 'over-sabi' frustrated approach may prevent some people like you from detecting the wisdom in the write-up. |

Predator188:But what is wrong with paying these bills? All the things you have classified as bills are the standard in terms of higher quality of life of an average human being, which you don't get in Nigeria. You want to enjoy 24 hours electricity or get your own property without paying for them? I don't understand! |
| Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by orjohn24: 8:33am On Dec 13, 2024 |
Kenn55:This reality of modern-day Canada is that the 'labour shortage' slogan is not entirely true, as many new arrivals are struggling. However, the majority are too shy or embarrassed to voice their pain and struggles. I agree that no system is perfect, but we must stop victim-blaming, as the Canadian system is currently failing many immigrants, especially skilled professionals. It seems that some people, like you, see nothing wrong with this. I will not reply further; everyone will face their own path in this relocation journey and should be prepared for the challenges ahead.Goodluck!
