N2TRN DEBT: BLACK OUT LOOMS AS NMDPRA HALTS GAS SUPPLY TO GENCOS

An electricity blackout is imminent following the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s directive to gas producers to cease supplying gas to indebted generation companies (GenCos).

NMDPRA stated that the substantial debts owed to producers had hindered their ability to sustain operations. It called on gas off-takers, particularly power generation companies, to ensure timely payment for the gas supplied.

The federal government and some GenCos currently owe over N2 trillion in legacy debts to gas producers in Nigeria.

The government will use this ploy & tactics to tell Nigerians that the govt can't continue to pay & subsidize electricity for Nigerians cos there's no money. They'll remind us how Nigeria pay the least for electricity worldwide.

When the government gave us a socialist state at under 50 million people. In 2 decades we grew to add at least 150 million people more. Who do you think will sustain that rubbish greedy growth.

e shock you abi ? There's nothing difficult about implementing an automatic payment process for these things deducting at source except that it will block every avenue for corruption. The Chinese should just take over the industry if we can't be honest with power generation and it's payments
