3. Penetration power maybe lower than assault rifle but accuracy is always superior in CQC

Assault rifles is only used for a more serious situation and not just any assault rifles. Rifles with high accuracy and low recoil. Like M16, M1 cabine, FN FAL
AK 47 wasn't designed for such. It's a war rifle with high collateral damage in hostage rescue.
In war collateral damage is not the priority and who put more suppressive fire is the top priority.

Am sure the officer put the AK on suppressive fire mode and not a single shot mode that may increase accuracy.

I have no sympathy for any politician except for the real ones like Obi…the only reason the Nigerian police acknowledged this is because she’s a governor sister, they would have lied normally. If the governor was doing his job, ensuring the growth of his state, if you cannot ensure the security of the people, then you are not doing your basic job. I’m just glad he would feel how the people feel now, how it feels to lose a father, brother sister from terrorist attacks while the same govt officials are ignorant to the struggles of the people,this is a good development for the people of Taraba, he would start taking his job seriously.

While I am of the opinion that the average officer should be handed pistols in this scenario it is clearly a case of incompetence, negligence or mistake.

Remember the officer is an escort that means he is on the same side with the deceased meaning he is not completely aiming for a precision shot as it is not an hostage situation. Shoot anywhere in the direction of the assailant and that's more than good enough.

The problem here is, he seems to have forgotten that his VIPs must always be behind him or must stay out of line of fire - that's incompetence and negligence.

You can also look at it from this perspective, the deceased in panic may have strayed into his line of fire. Overall in this case the type of weapon is not the issue but the personnel handling it.

Let me ask first, how do you combat multiple assailant with automatic weapons with just pistols?

An assault rifle is needed to combat multiple assistants but an AK isn't recommended because it has high collateral damage and low accuracy even in ambush crisis.

What will be point of what you are protecting gets killed even if you killed what is trying to kill it?
Worst case a friendly fire.

The officers may have killed the attackers but the media and the world won't see that if the VIP is killed.

I think it's about time for the government to consider buying double barrel as major weapon for the Nigeria police, because these people have for decades proved to the world that they do not have the expertise to handle surffisticatted weapons like the AK 47. I see no difference between them and ordinary vigilantes, even kidnappers can handle weapons more than the police, because we've not heard kidnappers mistakenly firing at thier hostages, but we can not count the number of people that the police has accidentally killed even without any altercation.

Heartbreaking, RIP ... It's neither the time nor place to say more, though there's a lot more that can be said

Your agenda is to promote better assault rifles with is fine but you're discrediting the AK which is not at fault in the above case.

If incompetence is at fault for the death as I'll like to think, owning a better rifle does not mitigate this kinda disaster.
