Makes no sense. How can people claim to have been working for 4- 5 years without a salary? What have they been feeding on?
It makes plenty sense, we were been told to be patient that the school mgt will see to it and the patience lasted to this very moment. That’s the more reason we are speaking so people will know that it is very much possible and we hope that our cry gets to the appropriate authority so these impasse can be a thing of the past.

Please this needs to be sorted out urgently if true.
Its very true, I'm one of the victims. How did I survive?

December 2020 till May 2021 - I was surviving on my savings.
May 2021 till around December 2022 - Colleagues in my department started contributing /Department loaned me.
2023 till now- I started another part time job plus ventured into few other things.
It has been a rough and tough ride. Many have died among us even.

Is that even possible ?

Like you weren't paid for like a year and you still went to work, classes, marked scripts and attended meetings?

Like how?

Wow corruption will really be hard to eradicate in this Nation..

How can you not get paid for up to a year and still have mind not to strike or stop teaching, what nonsense!
Many of us aren't lecturers, , moreover, we've not aren't bosses in our units and department to do what you're thinking.

I explained how I survived since then in my earlier post

I am saying reason beyond the board.

If they were employed legit they won't suffer such delays in payment of salaries. They might have been employed through backdoors. That's the Point.

If they were legitly employed,I bet you,if won't take so long before they were settled. That's my argument.

Post -ASUU scholar, you hear?
You have change your words now grin

4-5 years is not a joke embarassed
My sister is among them and I know what she has been passing through all these years with 5 kids (some in higher institutions). This is unfair, a worker deserves his wages for God's sake. They have been duly captured, included in 2024 budget of the UNIZIK and were told that their salaries are already running, so what is stopping them from getting their salaryhuh

They protested early last year and was reported by some media outlets. There's been series of engagements with the school management and they kept assuring them that they're on it. I believe, many had to engage in side hustles for survival like transportation within the school. You and I have heard in the past where some state governments were owing like 5 years salaries. This is Nigeria

Your illiteracy is legendary.

Post -ASUU graduate. Nothing in your head. Can't cogitate reasonably. Doesn't know federal government can't owe legit workers for five years.

Shame!😭

This is how it happened... The skl has not employed for about twenty years..... And haVE BEEN employing staffs and using IGR to pay them.. pending when FG eventually approves employment...

When the time came in 2019, they employed massively, then with tinubu's influence alot of the employees are Yoruba.. like 20%... The then newly appointed chancellor who is a Yoruba king insisted on federal character...

It now happened that about a quarter of the old staffs will retire with the period of next three years .. so the then VC over employed with the hope that they would be regularized as time goes when gradually the old ones retire.. the FG refused to authenticate their biography insisting the skl is over employing... The skl argued that alot of their staffs will very very soon retire and the will make up for it...

They encourage the new recruit to continue to come while they continue to talk to the FG... They believe Ngige will help them, he didn't and left .. these affected new employees kept on hoping and working with that VC and the chancellor gone... Like play it's now 4years....
I get the picture now. Thanks for sharing this here
