MadamVanessa:He DID NOT retire, rather, he RESIGNED. Who can be said to have retired? A person is said to have retired, if after his last official function, he No LONGER DOES THAT DUTY AS HIS PROFESSION OR VOCATION. Doing it as his profession would mean doing it as his day job for which he is paid a salary or wages and labour laws would apply. Doing it as a vocation would mean him having a strong inclination to it and even though he recieves a stipend at regular intervals, cannot be said to be earning a salary or wages because his work is not based on labour laws neither is the renumeration based on demand and supply or the work load. E.g catholic priests and nuns. So, if he, Abioye, went on to open his own personal ''ministry'', as they call it, then he has not retired, he only resigned from his former place of work, and has now moved on to another (his own) establishment. If he retired, he would no longer wake up in the morning and go to his office to do the same duties of a pastor. He may be called upon to help around when there is a need that needs fulfilling in the meantime, but he or his organization is concious of the fact he has retired and would have to find a more lasting solution. If he is called to assist at a branch, he would oblige but not let his acquired status and wealth to trump the resident pastor's authorith. He may even offer advice to the resident pastor, but would also understand that the pastor is at liberty to ignore it. If it is ignored, leading a catastrophe, he won't tell the pastor ''you see, I told you'', rather, he would simply ask what they can do to make things right. |

MadamVanessa:Anyone who has been following Shiloh event year in and out will realise what you are saying above. Indeed, Bishop Abioye's absence is very obvious to everybody attending and viewing. He was not invited, but will the Church raise other leaders to fill his shoes? If God wishes, other people will emerge. God does as He pleases. |

Hmm it is well. I actually thought the retirement stuff was not total absense from the ministry but they would still act as elders or something. But then come to think of it, does God retire his ministers. Who or what inspired the retirement? Was it God? God has blessed him and I always salute the man for his loyalty as someone as I have admired from far. |
