I am not wrong.

LIke most Nigerians, you want what sane countries have without the suffering they went through to get there.

If we had a Millei in charge of our country, instead of tinubu and his gang of thieves, things would get worse before they get better.

I even have proof of what Millei did, read the report here.

You do not have to support our leaders to realize that our economy needs some shock theraphy.
Milei started from himself and his cabinet before the nation started to give him support. U cant say the masses should make sacrifices while u are the leader keeps feeding fat. It doesn't work like that. The same Milei u are talking about takes economy class flight with the masses to go for his engagements. Charity must begin from home

Smh. This is falsehood. Fox is the equivalent of fake news platform in Nigeria. A lot of ignorant unpatriotic people with low self esteem will swallow and believe this fake news. Fox News report on economy? Smh.

That country called Argentina is in deep mess so much that it's public service and economy is in utter mess.

You don't achieve deficit by cutting off the salaries of workers and improvishing your citizens and country when great nations like Nigeria with almost 6 times the population of Argentina, is increasing salaries , providing direct palliative to support the vulnerable members of the society and growing GDP quarter on quarter basis while fighting inflation aggressively around 30% compared to that of Argentina that is almost 300%!

"He (Javier Milei) laid off over 70,000 public sector workers, cut pensions by 30% and froze infrastructure projects, pushing the country deeper into recession. Supermarket sales fell 10% last month. The International Monetary Fund lowered its 2024 growth outlook for Argentina, projecting a 3.5% contraction.

Poverty now afflicts a staggering 57% of Argentina’s 47 million people, and annual inflation surpasses 270% — a level unseen in a generation
."

Above and the screenshot below is the ugly and sad reality of Argentina today and not the Fake news by fake news spin Fox media.
why do you guys hate good news about others so much, it is the crap mentality, you hate on any good leader or nation who shows what true leadership is about, children of hate for a reason, if your claim of being patriotic is real, this is where you take inspiration and emulate others who are doing it right, but the mission is not to do it right but to gaslight and use propaganda as the tool while the nations wealth is being looted. Shameless govt / supporters.

The masses in Argentina did not support MIllei.

There were massive protests, and calls for his removal. Plus his party did not have a majority in their parliament, so he could not pass many of his measures for some time.

Eventually he was able to get some measures through

And even now, there are some harsh effects. Poverty has gone up, but on the plus side, the budget is in surplus, and Argentina is attractive for investment again, and the IMF Is willing to lend more money.

Even now, the analysts are saying that it is not yet uhuru. For a long time he was not very popular.

It is easy to have a surplus when you sack people and no longer pay salaries, you stop all projects, and stop subsidies.
People are not even aware that Argentina is currently in recession.

But to be fair, the measures were kind of necessary....Argentina was basically broke. They even defaulted on their debt repayment at one time...something that even Nigeria has never done.

You are shameless and thinks we are all fools here.....your screenshot report is as of July and we are talking of 2025 budget here. This shows that it doesn't take forever to clean mess and return a country to the part of greatness
Thier leader was ready for the required sacrifice. The guy entered public planes to many assignment.

They were extremely prudent with resources management and allocation.

Here we keep looking for excuses.
Everyone cannot be a disaster like Tinubu,
Re: Javier Milei Ends Budget Deficit In Argentina, First Time In 123 Years by Fren232: 1:23pm On Dec 12, 2024
nairalanda1:
That's it. Tinubu has not made any progress, because he is not ready to take the hard measures Millei and others like millei take.

Tinubu is really a typical bad Nigerian leader. Like now, he borrows, because the actual solution to the problem that is causing the borrowing won't get him elected in 2027. And the subsidy removal, which his supporters parrot , was forced because government spending on debt servicing as at August 2022 was eating 90% of government revenue. That's the only reason subsidy went. And he is still spending on white elephants, and frivolous stuff.

What I find amusing about your comment is that you are in essence praising a leader that if he took the type of measures he took in Argentine here, it would make tinubu look like a 'good leader' by Nigerian standards. No more things like npower, and tradermoni, and 'palliative'. Salaries would be frozen, and lots of government workers would be sacked, everyone would be classified as band A for power (not just the current 20%), and hospital and school fees wouild shoot up.

That's why I am amused with you. You want the benefit Argentina has without going through the sacrifice. LIke leader, like followers.
I am confused by Nigerians. If Tinubu tries 30% of what Milei is doing, Nigerians will be on the street. I think people just read headlines and don't do any research at all

I understand the need for drastic solutions, previous government messed up the country.
We can learn from Argentina and start making reforms before it is forced on us by circumstances.
I agree with stopping subsidy and sacking federal workers, but it's shortsighted to stop all projects and social programs

Honestly, I don’t know who is in charge of moderation on Nairaland and why they have become a parroting site for fake news and pro-trump and populist talking points. Every sane person with a decent understanding of economics knows that Millei has put Argentina in a gargantuan mess. Nairaland mods should do better please, they are doing serious damage to the Nigerian public by sharing misleading and unrefined news. Why don’t they stick with African and Nigerian news?! @seun @Myndd44 @lalasticlala
Re: Javier Milei Ends Budget Deficit In Argentina, First Time In 123 Years by grandstar(m):
The country that's desperately needs Milei makeover isn't the US, but Brazil

The country needs to balance its books.

The primary causes of the budget deficits are very generous pensions and a bloated civil service. If pensions are cut by half, and the civil service slimmed, the budget should balance pronto.

Brazil needs to make its labor market flexible. A flexible market will not only lead to a job creating boom, but will also bring down costs and boost productivity as well.

Lastly, it needs to cut excessive red tape.

So, if we get a Millei type leader, it would mean that salaries get frozen, government spending on new projects like roads, universityes, etc, would stop, and that workers would be sacked to save money and for those remaining, wages would be frozen. It would also mean that when you go to a government hospital, you may pay much more for operations, seeing a doctor, getting drugs , etc. You may also have to pay more for insurance, if you are NHIS covered. It also means that corruption would be strictly fought, nothing like begging, and it means that prices of railway tickets, school fees in all government schools from primary to tertiary would shoot up as high as those in private schools.

It also means everyone would pay N200 or more for a unit of electricity, not just Band A.

And it means that petrol would remain expensive.

The thing is, people like you were crying when tinubu did 10% of what Millei did. I wonder what you would say if Tinubu decided that millei was his hero, and did the above. Even MC Olumo would abandon and deny him 500 times in 12 hours. cheesy

Okay, so we vote a leader with brain, instead of tinubu

And the leader with brain decides that Argentina is his example...

1. Many civil servants at federal and state and LG level would be sacked.

2. Fees would shoot up in universites , primary and secondary, and polytechnics and monotechnics and colleges of education. TO the levels in places like Covenant and ABTI university.

3. Everyone would pay BAND A tarrif for electricity. EVERYONE. Not the 20% of consumers that pay

4. Petrol would still be expensive, even more so

5. NO more new or old spending on government projects...meaning your governor would not be able to build new roads, or your house of reps member won't be able to pay for empowerment. No more things like SURE-P, Amnesty, Boko Haram training, Npower, tradermoni, even credicorp that tinubu is doing. NO more free loans for farmers, and suchlike.

6. No more corruption or wuru wuru.

7. Taxes may shoot up, plus those who are not paying tax , rich and poor , would be forced to pay tax.

8. Railway and government run bus services would charge more for transport.

You sure you want the leader with brain? I do.

the problems are natural consequences of the solution. Idlers need to be laid off and made productive instead of printing money to pay them.
