Peter OBI refused to condemn IPOB terrorists and unknown gun men killing of innocent people in the east is that also commendable from him Mr OSHOMA? undecided

Sign of strong leadership, very commendable. Politicians are like diplomats. Their job is to mediate and work with competing interests even within their own camps.

What is condemnable and embarrassing is having a minister under your government who corruptly uses federal institutions to fight personal issues he has with a sitting Governor. Sign of a very weak leader.

Huh? How so? undecided

2. Where is the diplomatic angle to the visit? Did the Obi merely visit Babalola for a Photo op or something like that because that is about all the diplomatic I can think of in all of this. huh

3. Mediate regarding what exactly? Babalola, by way of his connections to an abusive system, kidnapped Farotimi and has been seeking ways to use the courts to strip him of all possible — all manners of corruption have been unleashed against the kidnapped man. So, what is this Obi mediating here? Corruption? Extensive abuse of power? Disregard of... I don't follow. undecided

4. The man Obi is smiling with is a SANS doing pretty much the very same thing, or are my missing something? undecided

He showed up. A leader should show up when something like this happens. If he had political authority, I would expect him to reprimand or fire the IGP for allowing such police harassment happen under his watch. He has no such power at the moment, but he still showed up. It's a sign that when something happens under his watch as president, he will show up. He'll address the issue, and if under his power, he'll take action. That's what I expect of a leader. Afe can fight his fight without the po po overstepping. Burna should've done same with Speed Darlington.

2. Where is the diplomatic angle to the visit? Did the Obi merely visit Babalola for a Photo op or something like that because that is about all the diplomatic I can think of all of this. huh
People can fight even within their own camps. It was mostly democrats who called for Cuomo to step down when had scandal as Governor. PO did what he was supposed to do, hear them both out, show support, and I guess advice them to follow due process, that's all.

But let's also not forget that we're in a very dire situation at this point in the country where the ruling class will use institutional influence to enable opposing parties fight each other. Shouldn't the president have fired someone in the police department who allowed Dele to be treated in the manner he was? But will he? It appears Afe intimidating Dele is good for their political interest.

Well, they are both his supporters if I am not mistaken. At the same time he has no authority to stop the use of an abusive system, in fact, the ruling class will actually want it to remain so, so that there can be division in the opposition camp. They have hijacked PDP and are doing same to LP. Abure was fighting with Apapa for LP leadership, only for Abure to be removed, then the court stepped in and restored him thereby deepening the crisis.

4. The man Obi is smiling with is a SANS doing pretty much the very same thing, or are my missing something? undecided
I can only blame PO for what he does with power while he has the authority, not what others do with the corrupt system in place. PO is not the president of the police chief. He can only do so much especially at this point in Nigeria's seriously corrupt political climate

1. I don't understand what you are insisting on at all. You claim he is a leader and a powerless one at that so what was the purpose of his showing up in this case? For a Photo OP opportunity? 😩😩😩😩

2. Hear who out? Is he a lawyer or a judge in this situation? Show support for what? The kidnapping of Farotimi? The violation of the Nigerian legal process by Babalola? What? huh

3. I am sorry, what? huh Obi—powerless to do anything in this case as you made clear— showed up to Babalola, the kidnapper of Farotimi, the one who took advantage of the abusive system in Nigeria in order to exert his revenge on Farotimi for calling him out for crimes he is accused of even by the U.S., to do what? undecided

4. What in the world has PDP, and LP to do with this issue for Pete's sake? undecided

5. But you don't hold back in commending him even in a situation as stewpid as this one for him? I mean what the heck was he doing butting into a situation that he had no power or really any personal business butting into? This literally seems like some desperate attention-wh0ring moves at this point. undecided

1. Powerless leader if that suits you. Yes, leader, and yes, powerless to change the system.

2. Hear his allies out. This is politics. I believe if you heard that your close friends were fighting and one intimidated the other, you'll go hear them out personally, or no? You'll go online and post about it? Again, why is the IG and President's name not being mentioned here? Who is in charge of the police that arrested Dele in such a manner?

3. To hear personally from them. The same way he visited PSQuare brothers who were both his supporters. As a leader, isn't that what you would do if you were in his shoes?

4. This case is following the same pattern with the Rivers, Kano, LP crisis. Wike's alleged use of police to intimidate Fubura, and even judiciary to stop allocation to Rivers. Use of the police and military and even the court to cause crisis in Kano between the deposed Emir and governor. Now this.

Why wasn't anything done about the police brutality? The Commissioner of police and IGP should be fired or reprimanded, but because Afe's alleged abuse of the system is good for the ruling class to deepen the crisis within the opposition, nothing will be done about it.

5. The two people fighting are his allies. What is a leader and politician supposed to do when his allies fight? Post about it on social media, stay away from it, or show up personally? He did what was expected. It won't stop the fight, however, someone should be fired for how Dele was treated.

2. Two lawyers is politics? Wait a second, are you telling us right here and now that Peter Obi is close friends with the corrupt including Babalola? 😏

3. Hear exactly what personally from them? Are you for real? Farotimi wrote a book that is in the public space detailing crimes he says Babalola committed and suggested that anyone who had a problem with their mention in it should take him to court. What in the world is Obi going to Babalola to hear? Why are you desperately trying to make this seem like it is not what it is? 😩😩😩

4. No it isn't! This is a case between two private citizens!😩😩😩

4b. So, because the corrupt leaders that Babalola used to forward his illegal acts against Farotimi were not fired, that was why Obi went to see Babalola? What the heck? 😩😩😩

5. These two people happen to be private f-king citizens and the issue is that one is pissed that the other laid bare his skeletons for the world to parse. What has politics to do with this except for Obi trying to make this a political move and opportunity for yet another photo shoot? Call it what it is. The man there is attention-whoring! undecided

2. Both Dele and Afe are Peter obi supporters. What was wrong with Peter Obi visiting Afe, if the visit was to hear him out and advise him to follow due process? Do corrupt people not participate in politics and have ties to supporting politicians anymore? Does it mean the law shouldn't take its course on them if they are found to be corrupt?

If this incident happened in the US or UK, I believe you'll have as much problem with the police who arrested Dele, and judge who remanded him, and the government who sits and does nothing about its corrupt systems, as you have with Afe. Yes? Why isn't that the case here?

3. So let's say your 2 allies are fighting each other. Will you read and post about it on social media or just avoid the situation, or since you can hear from the horse's mouth yourself, go to them and say, "is this true what I am hearing? What is going on"? Which one will you do?

4. Yes it's a case between 2 private citizens. But for some reason you're not alarmed that nothing has been done about the police and judiciary in this case. When Burna boy allegedly arrested Speed Darlington, my issue was with the police. Why is anything not being done about this? Who should put the police in check? Why should citizens be able to use the police and intimidate each other? That's a big problem.

5. Politics has everything to do with it. They're not just private citizens, they are very prominent public figures. People have issues everyday, but when a prominent private citizen have issues of this magnitude, it becomes a national political issue. That's why this is different.

Peter Obi is not the problem

You're welcome. If you have seen such endorsement from Obi please send me a link. What I know is that Obi went to visit his 2 supporters and I don't see a problem with what he did. What I see a problem with is the government keeping mute and doing nothing about police brutality and judicial influence, and that's where I see the political undertone in all of this.

I see Obi associating with a corrupt Nigerian Lawyer whose corruption dealings were exposed some time ago by the United States. This same corrupt Nigerian lawyer most likely bribed his way into using not the police force and the judiciary as a sort of mafia against Farotimi. Then you come in to tell me that it is OK that Obi associates with this corrupt lawyer and that they are close friends because the corrupt lawyer endorsed him during the 2023 election. The one offering me that unreasonable explanation is you! undecided

2. Does Obi also visit his other criminal supporters, the ones who have since the elections been convicted of one criminal offense or another and are probably in jail right now for it? Or does he only visit those who can provide him the needed photo op and clout-boost he seems to relish? undecided
