Good evening everyone, please l want to know the list of USA Agencies currently recruiting Nigerian nurses.

I recently emailed passportusa, and they said they don't recruit Nigerian Nurses because of WHO Redlist.

Please any advice from any one who has navigated through this stage and has written NCLEX.

I don't have a comprehensive list but try applying for the Germany Opportunity Card or Austria Red/White Card since both are accepting nurses from Nigeria.

Its very nice of WHO to redlist us so our nurses are not stolen.

I am only posting this to encourage it to frontpage, note.

The WHO's "Red List" (Health Workforce Support and Safeguards List) restricts active recruitment from countries with critical health workforce shortages, including Nigeria. Many U.S. agencies abide by this directive, but there are still pathways available for Nigerian nurses to work in the U.S. under certain conditions. Here are some considerations and advice:

Alternative Strategies
Employer-Based Sponsorships
Some U.S. healthcare employers might sponsor Nigerian nurses directly, especially if they meet specific qualifications such as passing the NCLEX and IELTS. This is different from using a recruitment agency and complies with WHO guidelines when initiated by the nurse.

Independent Application Apply directly to U.S. hospitals or healthcare facilities. Some hospitals recruit internationally trained nurses independently, particularly if they are magnet hospitals focused on diversity and education.

International Staffing Agencies
While agencies like PassportUSA may not recruit from Nigeria due to the red list, some agencies still work within the guidelines. Research agencies that recruit globally without violating WHO's policies, such as Avant Healthcare or O'Grady Peyton International.

Explore Other Routes Consider applying for nursing positions in countries like Canada, the UK, or Australia, which might have fewer restrictions.

Experience in these countries can enhance your international profile for future opportunities in the U.S.

Advanced Education Pathway Enroll in nursing programs in the U.S. (e.g., BSN or MSN). This route can lead to permanent employment and avoids restrictions related to direct recruitment.

Steps to Strengthen Your Case
Pass NCLEX: If you've already passed, you're ahead of the curve. Highlight this in your applications.

Take the IELTS or TOEFL: Many U.S. employers require proof of English proficiency.

Credential Evaluation: Use services like CGFNS to evaluate and authenticate your nursing credentials.

Build Connections: Network with professionals already working in the U.S. and join online forums or social media groups for internationally educated nurses.
