Relocating To Abuja: Help Me To Decide! by THELATTERMAN(op): 12:20pm On Dec 13, 2024
I'm planning to relocate to Abuja next month, that is January 2025, after completing my undergraduate study in one of the neighboring states. I'm confused about the best, most affordable place to stay.

My major needs are security, electricity, nearness to town, and affordable housing. I have been looking at Kubwa and Lugbe, but I would appreciate some input from Abuja residents here.

Note: I am on a budget. So, places like Asokoro, Utako, etc are out of it. Secondly, I'm a freelancer; hence my need for an area with a steady electricity supply.

So, where in Abuja would you suggest and why?

Go for Lugbe. It's nearer to town, most places have stable power supply, housing is affordable and security is okay in most places. Kubwa is okay to but farther from town

He's A SOUND Advice
If you are considering lugbe make sure it's an estate, if not don't bother renting an apartment not in an estate, demolition is eminent, same goes with kubwa, in fact, there are satellite villages inside the metropolis, avoid them with all your strength.

Now hear this, if you want to stay close to town and considering your budget, karu site and jikowyi phase one is your sure plug, karu site is very close to town and there light is constant too, the vibe karu site give is same like inside the metropolis ,

Again, don't you ever rent a house that is not situate inside an estate in Abuja especially lugbe and kubwa

quote me to give you a tour as soon as u arrive here, Welcome to my city,
cool

Thank you, boss.

How much do you think a self-contain apartment in an estate would cost especially in Lugbe and Kubwa?

Yeah sure

Kubwa is your best bet but Lugbe is nearer to town...

Kubwa is still cheaper than Lugbe
A lot of people are talking about how Kubwa is a fast-developing town in Abuja. Does the place get a steady supply of electricity?

Gwagwalada will do.
Re: Relocating To Abuja: Help Me To Decide! by laivwire(m): 5:50pm On Dec 13, 2024
You better go to Gwagwalada and start small. You can easily take a single bus to berger if you're going to town. Kubwa, Karu, na holdup go exhaust you for road. Lugbe is fine but expensive.

Also note that its not just rent that's higher in those places, the cost of living, food and commodity prices, okada transport are high as well. Things are cheaper in Gwagwalada but the light supply is bad. Yoou should also watch out for areas prone to robbery incidences.

As a freelancer, look for a cheap and secure area, get a cheap Solar installation that can be charged also with Nepa, and that can run your laptop for long hours and power your fan through the night, gadgets and other low energy appliances. Be careful of your neighbors too (since it’s a poor environment), they are not your friends, don’t form any familiarity with them (only good morning, afternoon and good evening) and just mind your business. Cheaper food and all that are some of. the advantages.

Considering your requirements, here are some affordable neighborhoods in Abuja that might interest you:

- Kubwa: This area is known for its affordability, excellent accessibility, and relatively stable electricity supply. You can find a single room self-contained apartment for as low as ₦150,000 .
- Life Camp: Located in Phase 3 of Abuja, Life Camp offers a comfortable and secure environment with well-planned layouts. It's close to key amenities and has a growing number of recreational activities ¹.
- Gwagwalada: Although it's about 55 km southwest of Abuja's city centre, Gwagwalada offers budget-friendly rental options and a relatively posh neighborhood ¹.
- Lugbe: While you've already considered Lugbe, it's worth noting that some areas within Lugbe have relatively stable electricity supply and affordable housing options.

Other neighborhoods to consider, which are known for their relatively stable electricity supply, include:

- Apo (especially Apo Nepa): Known for its consistent power supply
- Maitama: An upscale neighborhood with relatively stable electricity
- Gwarinpa: A large housing estate with improved power supply

When exploring these neighborhoods, consider factors like proximity to your workplace, local amenities, and transportation links to ensure they meet your needs.

Kubwa is your best shot. The light is stable and it's quite safe. Make sure you rent an apartment in an Estate, e get why.
