Go for Lugbe. It's nearer to town, most places have stable power supply, housing is affordable and security is okay in most places. Kubwa is okay to but farther from town
Lugbe does not have stable power supply.

What an advice to give to someone.

You shouldn't pass out your experience as a law anyone should live by.

Being unfriendly towards people doesn't pay anyone. Drawing boundaries is key to fostering healthy relationships.

You never can tell when he would need help from his ‘poor” neighbors in the ‘poor’ environment.

If it was a rich environment, his neighbors would be his friends, I presume.

Life is a gift.Use it judiciously and make impact.

Thquote author=BigDickProblems post=133282733]

As a freelancer, look for a cheap area, get a cheap Solar installation that can be charged also with Nepa, and that can run your laptop for long hours and power your fan, gadgets and other low energy appliances. Be careful of your neighbors too (since it’s a poor environment), they are not your friends, don’t form any familiarity with them (only good morning, afternoon and good evening) and just mind your business. Cheaper food and all that are some of. the advantages.
Your neighbor not being your friend nor not forming familiarity with your neighbors does not mean you are an enemy. You will only be a misery to them, it does not mean that when your neighbor’s house is burning, you won’t go and help them out and vice-versa.

I can see you are inexperienced or probably those type of neighbors I actually had in mind when advising the OP.

Jobs dey abuja?
Can you name dem?
jayce232:
Since u are a freelancer, what are u coming to Abuja to do? It is same life everywhere, u just want to expose yourself to unnecessary spending. Why not get a solar & continue your freelance while u plan on how to develop your house in your current location? If u are not coming to Abuja for a job, I don't see any need to come. House rent in abuja is expensive.

You know, freelancing...working remotely, is a cool thing. But as a young graduate, I'm looking forward to entering the labor force and getting real-life experience: good or bad.

Secondly, I have been in Kogi State all my life. From nursery to University education, I did all in Kogi. So, I feel the need to change environment.

Gwagwalada will do.
Gwagwalada is very far from town na

He said he needs a place closer to the town

You better go to Gwagwalada and start small. You can easily take a single bus to berger if you're going to town. Kubwa, Karu, na holdup go exhaust you for road. Lugbe is fine but expensive.

Also note that its not just rent that's higher in those places, the cost of living, food and commodity prices, okada transport are high as well. Things are cheaper in Gwagwalada but the light supply is bad. Yoou should also watch out for areas prone to robbery incidences.
Which traffic dey kubwa road?

The only time traffic dey kubwa road na on Mondays

As for the other reasons you highlighted, I00% agree with you

Considering your requirements, here are some affordable neighborhoods in Abuja that might interest you:

- Kubwa: This area is known for its affordability, excellent accessibility, and relatively stable electricity supply. You can find a single room self-contained apartment for as low as ₦150,000 .
- Life Camp: Located in Phase 3 of Abuja, Life Camp offers a comfortable and secure environment with well-planned layouts. It's close to key amenities and has a growing number of recreational activities ¹.
- Gwagwalada: Although it's about 55 km southwest of Abuja's city centre, Gwagwalada offers budget-friendly rental options and a relatively posh neighborhood ¹.
- Lugbe: While you've already considered Lugbe, it's worth noting that some areas within Lugbe have relatively stable electricity supply and affordable housing options.

Other neighborhoods to consider, which are known for their relatively stable electricity supply, include:

- Apo (especially Apo Nepa): Known for its consistent power supply
- Maitama: An upscale neighborhood with relatively stable electricity
- Gwarinpa: A large housing estate with improved power supply

When exploring these neighborhoods, consider factors like proximity to your workplace, local amenities, and transportation links to ensure they meet your needs.
I live in kubwa

There is no place u can get self con for 150

I used to pay 150k 2 years ago. This year February, my landlord increased it to 170k. And by October this same year,to 300k. We are still negotiating Sha

Kubwa landlords are inhuman. Just because dey heard Tinubu increased minimum wage of which dey have not started paying yet. Is not as if everyone is a civil/public servant ooo

Come join us for Mararaba, Abacha road or City college precisely. The light here is 20 hours/day.
A room self-contained is around 300-350k.
