All these newbies on Karu Site.....
It's not a cheap area of Abuja. Maybe Karu village slums close to city college. Karu site houses most MDAs estates . CBN, Customs, DEFENSE, DSS, EFCC, NIA , Supreme Court etc and you expect it to be for the poor ?.. Oga it's expensive place now.
less than 5 minute drive to Federal Secretariat ?

Abuja itself is not for the poor.
You need good Cash to sustain ya parole...

Well, from my little experience, we Nigerians, especially those of us living in the country, are always on the lookout for the slightest opportunities to extort ourselves. It is just everywhere: both in our megacities and remote villages.
Abuja own is outrageous

If you are considering lugbe make sure it's an estate, if not don't bother renting an apartment not in an estate, demolition is eminent, same goes with kubwa, in fact, there are satellite villages inside the metropolis, avoid them with all your strength.

Now hear this, if you want to stay close to town and considering your budget, karu site and jikowyi phase one is your sure plug, karu site is very close to town and there light is constant too, the vibe karu site give is same like inside the metropolis ,

Again, don't you ever rent a house that is not situate inside an estate in Abuja especially lugbe and kubwa

I'm planning to relocate to Abuja next month, that is January 2025, after completing my undergraduate study in one of the neighboring states. I'm confused about the best, most affordable place to stay.

My major needs are security, electricity, nearness to town, and affordable housing. I have been looking at Kubwa and Lugbe, but I would appreciate some input from Abuja residents here.

Note: I am on a budget. So, places like Asokoro, Utako, etc are out of it. Secondly, I'm a freelancer; hence my need for an area with a steady electricity supply.

So, where in Abuja would you suggest and why?
Kubwa is good. But stay in Arab Road if you want steady light and a cheaper accomodations. Talking from experience.

Kubwa; you can check fo1 or Arab road. The light is quite good but fo1 is really pricy, selfcon can go for as much as a million but secured and all road graded

You'll pay enough cash to secure a self con in those estates.

Hold at least N650k.

On a low budget, I would suggest Katanpe 1or 2, via Mpape Road by Love FM. It's about 5mins journey to Maitama and 7-10mins journey to Wise 2. There is 24hrs electricity supply. If you need more information please let me know.

Go for lugbe, at least we enjoy close to 19 hours of electricity daily here, and it takes less than 15 minutes to drive to the city center.i am staying at city gate and I use about 7 minutes to get to Wuse.... The only problem you might have is with rent, that amount you call budget may actually not get you a room here.

I'd advise you move to Nyanya or it's axis. It's good for your budget.

Thank you, boss.

How much do you think a self-contain apartment in an estate would cost especially in Lugbe and Kubwa?
Just as he said avoid any apartment that is not located within an estate.
Wike is on Demolition pro max mode!
Another good place is Gwarinpa extension/Karsana. As the cost of a self contain matches that of Lugbe if you factor in cost of getting to town(if it's often).
If you eventually settle for Lugbe avoid places like T-Pumpy and New site Estates. Power is not reliable and linking up with town from those estates is rocket science.
Good luck!

It is not bad for someone just moving to Abuja, the power situation is fine average 15hours a day at least for the areas I know, security is good compared to other parts of abuja most estates have security and most houses outside estates have vigilante security, for the price depends on your taste if you are looking to get a self con in a gated estate you should be looking at 700 k upward per year but you can get normal self con too in normal areas for 400 upwards too depends on factors like pop, gate etc but my place is 450 it's a nice place but not in an estate.

Dear Chief,

It is a good decision to relocate to the capital of Nigeria - Federal Capital Territory - Abuja.

Abuja is not that too expensive to live in depending on the area.

I currently live in a village in Jabi called Jabi Upstairs and it is in town and easily navigate to other places like Berger, Lugbe, Wuse, Maitama, Gwarinpa, Asokoro and other places with ease. For example, transportation from the Jabi Upstairs to Berger or Wuse is 300 naira as of today while from Berger to Lugbe is 700 naira....

For self contain in Jabi Upstairs as of today is between the range of 200,000 to 500,000 per annum - This mean you can get for 200,000 and can also get for 300,000 or 500,000 etc depending on your budget.

There is security because is in town and there is proximity to police station. There is regular water and power supply.

I will like to suggest you consider a location that is secured and cheap - able to afford pending when you can relocate to an estate or build/buy your own properties.

Other area to consider is Life Camp.

Thank you!

Mararaba is infested with street urchins who are mostly Hausas.

That place is like Ajegunle.

I stayed at Orange Market for five years, then moved to Nyanya, then Kubwa. Presently, I stay at Asokoro, by Pastor Fatoyinbo's Church Guzape.

I've connects for self con in my area... It's N600k with steady light in the highbrow area of Guzape, Asokoro.
Can I send a DM? I am looking for accommodation in Abuja. I was looking at Karu but this might be a better option based on proximity to my office.

Better come to Lagos jeje...
To me Lagos is very safe..
Not all places in Lagos are expensive, there are some that are fair but then you still get the basic necessities of life as well...

As for electricity..I mean steady electricity...come to ikorodu, some certain places in ikorodu have steady light..

Like my place now, I stay in an estate, electricity is about 15-20 hours daily except if grid collapse..

Total package for a room self con is around 200k-250k total package for a good place, might not really be sophisticated but very conducive...

As a young man like me, Lagos is the best..
I work from home so I know what I am saying
