Zaria Massacre: Shiites Mark 9th Anniversary by OlabisiiJ(op): 2:47pm On Dec 15, 2024
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria otherwise known as Shiites, on Saturday, reiterated calls for the prosecution of the executors of the December 12, 2015 massacre in Zaria, Kaduna state.

This is as the group held the 9th anniversary of the massacre in Abuja.

In his address, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, leader of the group, offered condolences to all those who lost loved ones during the December 2015 massacre and the subsequent killings.

He detailed how previous governments unsuccessfully attempted similar massacres, driven by ulterior motives to dismantle the movement and target him personally.

He also highlighted various instances of blatant disregard for the law by different arms of the Nigerian state in their suppression of the movement's brothers and sisters.

“I commend the steadfastness of our brothers and sisters of the movement despite enduring various levels of intimidation and oppression from the Nigerian government, its security forces, and, at times, the courts,” he said.

He cited the absurd claim of 'banning' what the authorities refer to as 'IMN,' a term the Sheikh clarified as a strange label imposed by the government on the Islamic movement.

He reminded them that a religious movement cannot be legally or rationally banned.

"We have taken the government to Court and they have also taken us to court. In both cases, we won, but they refused to obey the court order.

"Now we have a change in government. It is good for the present government to respect the law, so that it would not be seen as a lawless government," Sheikh Zakzaky added.

Shites are very stubborn.

They believe more in Saydi na Ali than Prophet
Muhammad. And the world hqtrs of Shia is the Islamic Republic of Iran.

While I commiserate with family of dead killed in that massacre, I urge the Shites to always imbibe the culture of decorum especially when using public space like their annual processions. Also, it is the height of disrespect to open fire on the convoy of the COAS.

Nigeria is a strange weird country where life means nothing

The Nigerian Army bessieged the Shittes in Zaria, and for three days, murdered hundreds of unarmed shiites

All for what? The a religious Shiites procession blocked the convoy of an Army General

That's how cheap life is in Nigeria, that the Nigerian Army that is paid to protect people can turn their guns on unarmed civilians, and kill them in the hundreds over over a traffic issue

Chei! What a country!

As if aypobians are any different in their treatment of those they considered as saboteurs. We have seen how people were tortured to death, beheaded and homes destroyed. There is more freedom of speech in Nigeria than withing IPOB.

Useless Iranian agent.
If a Nigerian were to setup a subsersive movement in Iran, such person will be executed
promptly but this idiot is allowed to roam freely threatening societal peace.

The army is wrong in going after the brainwashed members who don't know any better.
This man should be the one being remembered after a death sentence and not his gullible followers.
