Thank you very much for showing us the truth about Russia. Propagandists and liars like righteousness and Botragelad or whatever fanciful name he calls himself will usually avoid this thread because it counters the lies they all promote about Russia being a poor country where food is expensive and unavailable.

Getting this much food for 9500 is so madly cheap. And to think it's even more expensive than usual because the region is large and cold. Here in Naija, 9500 won't even buy that chicken 😂
One full chicken is now 25 to 30k now in Nigeria. Just too expensive.
Na we dey do ourselves for this country, our business men and women, traders and farmers are just too greedy and selfish

Are you one of the oponu who cannot think beyond your next bowl of akpu?
One of those oponu who think cultivating agbado is demeaning you come online to cry about the cost of eggs!
Terrible to be an oponu.
It's only a demented braindead zombie and a terrible human being such like yourself will say that if the masses wants foods to be cheaper, they should all leave their profession and start farming, this is like saying if the masses wants healthcare to be accessible and cheaper, they should all become nurses and doctors.

Even if everyone starts farming, so your turd-filled brain thinks that a person can cultivate all the food and ingredients he or she needs ?

Back to my previous question, are you a braindead ronu?

Will it be so terrible if you quit ranting online to plant a few crops? Perhaps you prefer to rant online or open your putrid mouth towards the sky for manna to drop from the heavens?
If a place with negative 80 degrees weather can feed itself, don't you think you have to be a first class oponu not to understand why you are hungry despite your favorable weather?

When it comes to food items, Yakutsk, Russia is probably the most expensive city in Russia.

Seven hours ahead of Moscow's time zone, eight hours ahead of Nigeria's, logistics of transporting food to Yakutsk adds up to the cost.

Also, at minus 63 degrees Celsius lowest temp. Yakutsk is the coldest city in the world.
Farmers can only farm for about three months a year and livestock's farming requires considerably high amount of energy to maintain temperature requirements.
These factors ensures that food prices remain high in Yakutsk especially in winter. But how expensive are these food items exactly?

One Turkey leg 108 Rubles About 1,550 in naira

0.5 kg Pig meat 227 Rubles About 3,200 in naira

One Whole chicken about 1.5kg 180 Rubles about 2,550 in naira

0.7kg Onions 66 Rubles About 950 naira

1kg Sweet Potatoes 94 Rubles About 1,350 in naira

Note: that Naira/Rubles exchange rate fluctuates between 14 to 14.5 Naira per Ruble

Also, even though these were the costs of these items, the supermarket still gave me a 5% discount on these items because I have a student ID card.

Note that these I purchased these food items in a retail supermarket. Also, things are expensive in Russia right now dues to sanctions which is the irony of the whole thing.

Despite economic issues and sanctions, Russia is still able to provide a quality standard of living to foreigners and their citizens even in a remote city like our Yakutsk.❤️

Re: What I Bought With 9,500 Naira In Russia by WriteerNg:
But but Cococandy said Russia's economy is in tatters.

So please tell us, can $50 buy this in the US?

$50 = 90,000 naira.

I doubt even $60 would buy them.

A nation that it's citizens cannot afford the basic necessities of life (food, health, shelter, heating, clothing) is not a wealthy nation.

Sanctions are meaningless to Russia. They produce virtually everything. And share border with 11 countries and 14 seas.

The have the critical and basic things every human needs. Food, clothing, energy (oil and gas), healthcare, industry.

Right now everything Russia exports is paid for in Rubles, the decree was signed by Putin in 2022.

So how can sanctions affect a country that doesn't deal in US dollars??

🇷🇺 Russia: Population = 144 million
GDP = $2.5 Trillion
Natural Resources: $100 Trillion
Debt = $295 Billion

🇺🇸 USA: Population = 350 million
GDP = $28 Trillion
Natural Resources = $45 Trillion
Debt = $36 Trillion.

Do the math and tell us who's in a better financial shape. Russians will prosper and not lack till the next 8 generations.

Things are far better than in Nigeria. Any country whose highest denomination currency cannot buy a plate of food, that country is in big trouble.
In Nigeria today, the highest denomination which is one thousand naira cannot afford a plate of food in the least restaurant, thanks to the economy annihilation policies of emilokan and his all knowing ronus.
Honestly @bold
The country is messed up!
One whole chicken here should be around 20k to 25k. Someone got that for 2550 in Russia & to think Nigeria is even a poorer country, things ought to be cheaper here. Quite unfortunate.

Well in my opinion maybe population. Yakutsk is the capital city of Yakutia. Yakutia is about three times the size of Nigeria by land mass but less than one million people live in Yakutia. Yakutsk itself has about 350k residents only. Not sure how it adds up but a very beautiful city with low population compared to a place like Nigeria makes living standard very good.
Yakutsk is still expensive though. House rents starts from like 350k a month for good apartments.
Thanks to the Russian government's education system for citizens and foreigners though, I pay less than 18k naira a month for my 24 hours wifi, hot and cold water, electricity dormitory with a washing machine and they change my bed clothing for me twice a month.

I don't think the government is subsidizing anything food here. The only thing they subsidize is fuel for residents of Yakutsk because here in winter people leave their cars running 24/7 otherwise, without a heated car park, once you shut down your car, it freezes and starting it because a problem.
You mean people actually leave their car engine on during winter even when they're not driving it? shocked

Where are you based? Thats the first question? The simplest answer I can give you is that Nigerians are making millions exporting our food items to UK shops to sell. Now tell me where the food is cheaper?

Re: What I Bought With 9,500 Naira In Russia by E2000: 10:24am On Dec 16, 2024
Things are very expensive in Nigeria because we don't produce excessively like we use to do many years ago. I doubt we produce enough chickens to feed our population without import. Assuming our chicken farms can output 20million birds daily in Nigeria chicken will be cheap and we may even have enough to export. There is money to be made in Nigeria but we are too lazy to produce and want God to come down from heaven and feed us.

The chicken you buy in Nigeria at that amount is over 1.5kg which the OP made mentioned. Even layers as sold in Nigeria after their usefulness in producing eggs are more than 1.5kg in weight when they are given away to be sold.

In my state, a chicken more mature and healthier than the one on that picture is 5,500 naira

In summary, Yakutsk, despite being one of the most expensive places in Russia, it's still far cheaper than Nigeria.

Imagine buying a full chicken for ₦2,550 in Yakutsk, while only one egg is ₦300 and a chicken lap is ₦4,000 in Nigeria
Tinibu says it's good for the citizens grin grin

You are nothing but a braindead Zombie that has been programmed to be a nuisance, you are probably still eating Mama thank you, or you are one of those irredeemable dregs of the society whose brain is half a pea size.

Going by this your stupid narrative, everyone should leave their profession and Jobs and become a farmer just because they want food to be cheaper, your turd of a brain didn't even consider that it's not everyone has access to farmland, you didn't even consider the issue of herdsmen, logistics, loans and other roles your inept Tpain has to play.

You are very daft, no need for me to continue with this conversation.
