I sense a political stunt

Its possible that Tinubu' govt must have orchestrated this display to get an excuse to abandon the project.

Open your eyes, they can intiate project, map out funds, cause chaos to abandon the project, then siphon the mapped out fund.

This is Southeast remember,

Can Tinubu build any infrastructure at the southeast?
I don't even see why jagaban have to initiate any project in that region with 100% hatred for his mandate

All I know is that he is trying to be fair to the elders of your land but if it is to consider most useless youth from SE I would have suggested jagaban send soldiers to maintain sit at home 3 times in a week so that their economy can totally perish

This story sounds incomplete. We expect to hear from the council chairmen.
They have gone incommunicado, they have gone underground. The governor is using them for dirty job. If FG grab them one time, they will spend both Christmas and new year in Abuja detention facility, including the police officers who were bribed and used for the dirty job

mairogo:
The report failed to give us the reason for the detention.. it's important to enable us make informed comments.
The reason was mentioned, go and read the third post. It was even a silly reason

SadiqBabaSani:
Sensational headline
What's sensational about that report? The council chairmen stepped outside their boundaries. Dem they stop FG work? Hehe!

Lopsided journalism why are nigerian PPP journalists like to give half-baked information from the write up it is possible to deciphering that it is skewed.Although i am not in support of the actions and inactions of the accused chairmen let us always build on truth in this country we have lied so long and it is not doing the country any good.
Which half baked journalism.? Two newspapers have reported almost similar news. Didn't you read where they reached out all the parties, ie council chairman, state police even the assistant to the governor, but all refused to comment. If one has nothing to hide, why not give reasons for the action?

All the same I'm willing to give Mbah the benefit of doubt. I regard him among the performing governors among these current crop.

This is very unprofessional reporting having failed to address the fundamental issue threatening the project. This brown envelope reportage should be frowned at seriously. The important information about the location is that the land is a subject of long standing squabbles between Akpugo in Nkanu West and Amagunze in Nkanu East LGAs for long time now.Incidentally the current minister of Science,Technology and Innovation who attracted the project is from Akpugo .He made the site the choice for the project which triggered Amagunze the other community t who raise protest both to their Chairman and the Governor ultimately.Hence to avoid the break down of law and order in communities i think that is why the security agencies and government intervene. Nobody is stopping any project. The Hon minister and the Governor by extension should dialogue with these communities and deal with challenges facing the project
Ok. So this explains it. Evidently there are political undertones to it.

While not supporting the actions of Mbah in using force , I think it's wrong to have bypassed him and gone ahead with the project. Am not sure the law gives FG such powers.

Should there be an arrest in the first place? On a FG project? The National Assembly should get to the bottom of this before siting projects in hostile communities.

FG should please bring the project to Lagos state abeg. We will recieve them with tremendous joy and give the project all the support it needs to succeed phenomenally.

May God bless Nigeria for ever!
I taya o! There is more to this story.
No governor can stop an ongoing FG in his state without any reason.
It's either no be FG get the project but one of it's cronies fronting as FG and refusing to settle land matters.

It's for your and other silly comments here that I asked for a detailed report containing the reason for the arrest.

I believe the govt (state and LGs) know the economic significance of the project and so won't jeopardize its completion but to order the arrest of workers at the project site means something is wrong. That's what the report should've told us: what caused the arrest.

Mr Peter Mbah isn't stupid and I'm sure something is wrong. Let us know what is before we condemn or commend.
the report clearly stated that both projects were attracted by the apc governorship candidate in the last election who is currently a minister.
The governor is trying to frustrate the project because of the effect it will have in the 2027 govnership election.

The report also stated that the elders of the communities are not happy with the development.
What is funny to me is how you are trying to act like this is not a norm in Nigeria, governors always frustrate projects like this especially when there is a possibility of an upcoming election.

Stop defending rubbish.

[quote author=SmartPolician post=133317139]APC don start their propaganda; the craft they do better than governance. This is just another propaganda article from them.

Imagine Enugu State Governor who is desperate to develop the state arresting those working on a #40 billion project financed by the FG. I trust the government to issue its rejoinder soon.

I don't like mbah because he stole Edeogu's mandate, but even IDIOTAS can see the efforts he's been putting in governance to pacify the electorates.
So, any propagandist PEDDLING this lies from the pit of hell is the DEVIL himself.
