Hi. Please how do I contact the Nigerian police or relevant agencies over a case of fraud committed in another state. I'm currently based in Port Harcourt with my client but I want to report a case of fraud against the staff of a shipping and logistics company (Redstar express) based in Lagos. Their staff committed a case of fraud against my client. The company customer service were officially informed with evidence of the fraud committed by their staff but they refused to take action against their staff to return the money of the victim.

The Nigerian Police Force is a federal agency. I don't see why you should be unable to walk into any police station and file a charge against the company in question to begin an investigation and possible prosecution.

I went to a police station here in PH and they say we'd have to travel to Lagos to do that which is quite inconveniencing because of my busy job. I was wondering if there are any other means of sorting this out without having to travel to Lagos because the next time we'd personally be free to travel to Lagos to commence a case against the staff and the company would be March next year.

In that case you would have to appoint a proxy here in Lagos to submit the petition in your behalf and follow up for you pending your arrival to make statements during investigation

I was shocked myself. We saw travelling to Lagos to deal with the matter as a second option, in which case that'd definitely be around March next year. But I'm surprised that for a serious crime as fraud involving a company, that the Nigerian police would say such. Like there are no means of communicating or collaborating with those in Lagos to prosecute this company and it's staff.
