It is a good business if you can do it on commercial scale under strict bio-security measure and well equipped processing facilities or take them to rented slaughtering facility.

Poultry business is a very risky business, when I started mine around 2014, all the broilers died at the same due to heat and they were two months old, big and getting heavy.

If the feed is right every week they gain x4 of the initial weight they arrived at day 1 with .

So week 1 around -200 grams
By week 4 you are looking at around 800 grams to 1kg
By week 6-8 you can achieve between 1.5- 2.5kg

Of which most broilers ship them to the market at this stage as they are market ready at 2.5kg

Some decide to keep feeding them although it’s less cost effective to do this

I don't know about other cities but there are places in Ibadan that you take your birds to for slaughtering and freezing. They will help you slaughter them with machine, pack it in nylons and freeze in their coldroom for 24/48 hours. Your own is to sell the frozen from there or take it to your frozen store.

I think they charge around #250 per bird now.

If you sell from the frozen shop, they will cheat you. Its best to froze it yourself at home or in your personal shop!

Excess weight gain on a weak foundation (the bones). This is the end result of using only super starter or starter throughout. You need to have started using grower and finisher at some point as these have more calcium. They promote bone development so the bird will have strong bones to carry that weight.
