FIFPRO is the Fédération Internationale des Associations de Footballeurs Professionnels (International Federation of Professional Footballers). In other words, the team is selected via votes by the players. However, there's a bit of controversy because Chiamaka Nnadozie, who is undoubtedly the best goalkeeper in Africa, is not on the list. 7 Likes

They didn't give both best gk a spot in the xi. That's illogical by all means. It needs to stop. Their performance in their teams is what earned them the individual award. How that is not enough to enter the ultimate XI is an aberration 4 Likes |

daveP:It's the old argument about who should be involved in the selection process. In other categories the captains, coaches, journalists and experts voted and they voted for Chiamaka Nnadozie as the best keeper in Africa (which she is). The FIFPRO 11 was voted for solely by the players and they voted for Andile Dlamini. 1 Like |

They just had to include the South African goalkeeper on the list because the CAF President hails from the same country. It is absurd that the best goalkeeper on the continent isn't on the best 11 list, it is just indefensible. |

naptu2:That voting needs to end because it defies positional relevance as well. The only way to rectify it is to add a bench of extra players For example, the fifpro xi in last decade have seen 65% of players in it put in a position they will never play in their entire lives. Plus defenders tend to get trampled on to fit favourite attacking players. All cos of votes and what not. See Saliba as LB for example. Meaning actual LBs were dumped just to fit him there even if he deserves to be in the xi. It's tiring plus best gks should automatically be in xi. But here we are anyway. |
