This is very good, how on earth we will be voluntarily enslaving ourselves to the western world. I hope there will be heavy penalty for anyone or institutions that flouted this bill when it becomes law. I hope our lawmakers will not be the lawbreakers of this bill when it eventually becomes law. |

vanditijjani:What’s the relative strength of the currencies you mentioned in the international market. We often look for quick fixes in this country, which can backfire. Banning foreign exchange here might give the naira a temporary boost, but it risks creating a long-term shortage (especially in the parallel market), leading to significant depreciation later on. You can take this prediction to the Bank. We should have learned from the Buhari era that outright bans rarely work. His decision to ban 41 items for forex only pushed people to the black market which was the origin of this volatility mess we are in. Ease of access to forex is what will stabilize its value, not restrictive policies that creates scarcity. Poor policies will ruin this country…. |
