It's probably more than the chicken and eggs. It's only a capital offence that necessitates a capital punishment. Hoping he didn't kill anyone during the act.

When we all pass judgement on the jusge in this matter whose judgement was based on fact of the case. Nobody is talking anyrhing about the DPO request for #30000 bribe and the parents raised #20000. DPO refusal to accept the #20000 led to unfair representation of fact before the trial judge.

The judge that presided over that case and passed that judgment should be sentenced to death.

As for the governor Adeleke, rather than use this as only a means to score cheap political point, you should be looking into the kind of laws or loopholes in the law that will give a judge that kind of power to sentence someone to death over theft of a chicken. Except there is more to this case than we are being told, the root is what we should be cutting not the leaves.

Don't put up a comment making it seems it's a general thing.
The judge may be acting within the confines of the Osun State criminal laws and I still believe that judge is from the SHC.
It's for Gov. Adeleke and the SNA to look into te State criminal laws and do an amendment. It's pathetic that such laws still exists for death penalty where as those who steal the State resources and bleed the State have not even received such judgment if at all they were ever found.
It's same thing for those in the North who practice Sharia. We have not seen them carry out judgment against the rich who commit same offenses.

To even imagine that the boy has spent more than 10 years in prison already is painful. Chai... Only God knows how many other persons are in prison for crimes they didn't commit or serving sentences that far outweighs their offences

Hmm.

Half story as usual. The boy robbed a house armed with a old fashioned wooden gun and a sword. But could only make away with hen and eggs.

The presence of weapons automatically places the crime under the Robbery and Firearms Act. The penalty prescribed under that act is death. Most of the penalties under that act are stiff. 21 years to life imprisonment and 14years for illegal possession of arms in public.

It is the Act that should be blamed not the judge who simply followed the letter of the law. Perhaps in the context of what was stolen it looks excessive but the presence of arms makes the material stolen irrelevant.

They should make those who steal with pen also subject to death penalties too sha

I didn't do anything. I'm not running. They should come and arrest me. Such innocence. The case started as accusation and he wanted to defend himself in police custody without money.🤦🏿‍♂️ He's probably used as the scapegoat.
In Naija you gotta apply common sense. You go fess gbas make elders handle the matter.
As a teenager, when I've caused kasala (no stealing-- my pikin stubborn but he no dey steal), I will japa from the whole area. Nobody will meet me at home. I'll only resurface when elders and the community are handling the matter. Thank God for God sha. Never been in police then though I've got to settle them especially on the highway mostly cos of others. The last was my hard earned 100k cos of my younger bro they picked on the road to school and took to their station. They profiled him for his dressing and because he was dragging with them and making videos. 😢

Though I respect policemen, they're not your friend. I've heard my police uncle and his friend joking that "police no good" when recounting their exploits. There no way you'll enter police net and not spend whether or not you involve soldier boys or lawyers. Only avoid any police friend or relative unless they're close to CP.

30k could have solved the problem then but the parents couldn't raise it for the DPO and the heartless man could have written graver allegations on the young man. The real culprits are probably living their lives or facing karma (for those who believe in karma).

he is just getting a pardon for a crime he never committed. he didn't even eat from the said chicken he was accused of stealing.

How on earth would billionaire thieves in government and other sectors go unscathed or with very minimal jail terms, but a poor minor gets sentenced to death for stealing a “fowl”?!
