Even abroad, PhD students moonlight as Uber drivers.

No guarantees anywhere.

You must be proactive.
Hmm.
You just don't start PhD abroad if you are not already working in that field.
Only a novice will do that.
Also depending on the country, you can get student loan to help offset the bill.

Yeyeyeye yeyeyey nonsense. Someone who couldn't pay house rent won open bar. Why haven't you become Dangote since you know how to open businesses?

Hmmm ... I guess this Emanuel wants to start at the top in the field or nothing else ... he rather be a bar tender. Doesn't his friend know hjs qualifications? ... and instead hired him to be bartender which he knows nothing about? What business owner will not use him to do accounting?... maybe he refused because his ego wouldn't allow him to be an ordinary accountant. .... maybe he has problems. Most people with degrees apply for only jobs that match their qualifications. It is much better to get into a company by any means necessary ...gateman ... janitor ..driver .... once in you're already in their system ..already vetted ...then from the inside apply for positions that are inline with your objective. Vacancies are usually filled by insiders.

I find it hard to believe that someone is looking for job. What do you think the Internet is for?

With all the opportunities offered by the Internet and you're still looking for a job?

People don't really know what they're doing on this earth.

Train yourself on one internet business and begin. There are a lot of videos on YouTube to learn ANY skill you want but you would instead watch porn and complain about job.

You chose the WRONG qualification to pass the right message.

If your FICTIONAL Emmanuel was half as smart and ambitious as you painted him to be, then he'd have gotten his ICAN accreditation and find his way into a Big 4 Accounting Firm through their ROBUST Internship programmes.

Next time you want to tell a cock-and-bull story, make it BELIEVABLE!

And ICAN is free huh

I said the Internship route is rhe EASIEST. Not the ONLY one.

KPMG has Graduate Trainee Programmes for people up to 28-years old. And being Chartered is not even a requirement. So if Emmanuel is a Chartered Accountant, it be a BONUS!

There may be JOBLESS Chartered Accountants but I assure you they are NO Emmanuels.

If Emmanuel is SMART, DILIGENT, AMBITIOUS and CHARTERED, an Emmanuel can NEVER be jobless. Even in a shithole like Nigeria.

That's the GOSPEL!
The reality is that he has tried and made efforts, but it didn't work.
Stop putting down people's struggles because time and chance happened to you.
You sound very immature.

And you are attributing this to Nigeria? Where in the whole world will you still carry paper degrees alone without skills to find work, and you will get the job? Guy, no ICAN, no ACTS, CFA, no nothing, or even some core accounting software skills, yet you blame Nigeria. I know a lot is wrong with our country, but this one is not directly the issue of Nigeria. Let people know about this and begin to prepare themselves and even their children. The government cannot give everybody work. Nowhere in the world will that happen.

OP, the reality of things is that many graduates all over the world are doing jobs that don't corollate with their qualifications. I'm not giving any excuses to the messed up economic situation in Nigeria but the fact of the matter is that COVID and the Russian/Ukrainian war has messed up the global economy. The job market now is ultra competitive compared to our parents time. Too many degree holders and not too many jobs to cater to them. Graduates need to learn a skill that will set them apart from the competition. Gain IT skills, get professional qualifications or specialize in a lucrative field. Think outside the box. Most importantly, know how to sell yourself. No one can do that for you.

The relationship between poverty and pride is complex and influenced by various factors, including cultural norms, personal experiences, and societal expectations. Here's a nuanced exploration of this correlation:

Poverty and Pride: A Paradoxical Relationship

1. Survival and Resilience: In many cases, people living in poverty develop a strong sense of pride as a coping mechanism. They take pride in their ability to survive and thrive despite limited resources.
2. Community and Solidarity: Poverty can foster a sense of community and solidarity among those affected. People may take pride in their shared experiences, cultural heritage, and collective resilience.
3. Dignity and Self-Worth: Despite material deprivation, individuals living in poverty may maintain a strong sense of dignity and self-worth. This pride can serve as a buffer against the psychological impacts of poverty.
4. Cultural Identity: Poverty can be closely tied to cultural identity, particularly in communities where economic hardship is a historical and ongoing reality. People may take pride in their cultural heritage and the struggles their community has faced.

The Dark Side of Poverty and Pride

1. False Narrative: The notion that poverty is a source of pride can be a false narrative that perpetuates the status quo. It may distract from the need for systemic change and poverty alleviation efforts.
2. Internalized Oppression: In some cases, people living in poverty may internalize negative stereotypes and shame, leading to a diminished sense of pride and self-worth.
3. Limited Opportunities: Poverty can severely limit access to education, employment, and healthcare, making it difficult for individuals to break the cycle of poverty and maintain a sense of pride.
4. Mental Health Impacts: The chronic stress and trauma associated with poverty can have devastating effects on mental health, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Breaking the Cycle

1. Addressing Systemic Inequalities: To break the cycle of poverty, it's essential to address systemic inequalities, such as discriminatory policies, lack of access to education and job opportunities, and inadequate social safety nets.
2. Empowerment and Education: Empowering individuals and communities through education, job training, and economic opportunities can help build pride and self-worth.
3. Community-Led Initiatives: Community-led initiatives that promote cultural heritage, community cohesion, and collective resilience can help foster a sense of pride and identity.
4. Mental Health Support: Providing access to mental health support services can help individuals cope with the psychological impacts of poverty and build resilience.

In conclusion, the correlation between poverty and pride is complex and influenced by various factors. While poverty can foster a sense of pride and resilience, it's essential to address the systemic inequalities and provide opportunities for empowerment, education, and community development to break the cycle of poverty.
