Lawmakers Stop Rendition Of Tinubu’s Anthem During 2025 Budget Presentation by dre11(op): 2:00pm On Dec 18, 2024
By Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe

Members of the National Assembly on Wednesday disrupted an attempt by some of their colleagues to sing President Bola Tinubu’s anthem, ‘On Your Mandate We Shall Stand’, during the joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives for the 2025 budget presentation by the President.

The incident occurred shortly after a prayer session to commence the proceedings.

Some lawmakers began singing the anthem, sparking resistance and uproar from others in the chamber.

The disruption halted the song, and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, promptly moved forward with the budget presentation process, delivering his speech.

That was inconsequential if you ask me. Maybe he wanted to use that to harmonize the house before his presentation

What kind of lawlessness is this?
So in a plenary session, after singing national anthem, we are now singing Tinubu anthem?

Even secondary school students won't behave like this

Those lawmakers who sang the anthem should be fished out and suspended by the leadership of the house.

There should be a limit to sycophancy. How can these ones objectively scrutinize the budget?

Clowns

Imagine members of an arm of government that is supposed to be independent of the executive comes to the hallowed chambers and display such sycophancy.

Separation of power is a myth in Nigeria,

In fact, both the judiciary and legislature are all appendages of the executive.

Would these parliamentarians have the balls to impeach the president like the Koreans just did if the need arise?

Shameless bunch of nonentities, people that are supposed to be checkmating whatever the president is doing are singing that on his mandate they will stand. You don't even know the content of the budget he is yet to present but you are sheeplessly standing on his mandate.
Bunch of rubber stamps

You didn't carefully read what was posted. It's Tinubu's anthem not national anthem. Of what benefit is Tinubu's anthem.
