You don't buy all your machines in one day in mechanized farming, u don't need every type of machine involved in mechanized farming before starting, you buy machine that you need.
If the schools are not interested in dry season farming, why will they need irrigation system?
The money is good for starters, #1b can start mechanized farming right in Nigeria and you will get a very good start.

Do they even need to buy tractors from the money given? They can easily get machines and implements for use at cheaper rates via the ministry of agriculture in their respective domains.

I’ve noticed that many people are quick to dismiss anything positive in certain ideas, which is unfortunate. This idea to me makes sense.
On another note, I attended a school of technology that’s now heavily focused on offering management courses, seemingly as a way to generate revenue. In doing so, the school appears to be losing its original purpose. What’s the point of a university of technology if it’s not driving innovation or producing tangible solutions.
Likewise University of Agriculture should advance in order to address food insecurity.

This is just a gesture from the FG to enable universities make good use of their land for the purpose of food security. These universities are not meant to feed the whole of the country.

All school of agriculture in the south east should be further cut until security is sure. Government should check if they have farms already that are never in the vicinity of ipob before releasing the money to them. All the bushes are already taken over by ipob using them for cannibalism, kidnapping operations, cultism and abode of living since they are brainless that they can no longer leave with normal human beings. Ipob and their members will blame government for anything, it is in them. Their prime minister could not even remember to empower Biafra farmers, sponsor Biafran education or support small businesses from donations and content creation proceeds; ipob-s are only good at killing igbos from Igbo donations

The Government is talking about mechanized farming with target for food surplus, security and if possible export, the money named here is very meagre and can only sustain a little above normal subsistence farming.

Do you have up to 1 billion to give to the universities? It's only empty barrel that usually make noise.

I just don't get it always as to why Nigeria is always in a haste to adopt things we are not ready for.
1. The land use act is still a serious controversy, that itself has not been fixed.
2. In my opinion, who will definitely venture into mechanised farming are currently 6-7 figures companies.
3. The market; if we can't make our products viable enough for exports overseas, of what use is even starting out in the first place.
I just believe we know what to do, but we perpetually keep ourselves in chains, misery and torture.
Since the above mentioned had not been fixed, the best we can do is follow the path of India where the cultural Agriculture is modified, not entirely cutting it out so as the mass of the population who generally are peasant farmers can have enough to at least support the local market.
Finally, mechanised farming is fun till your combined harvester generates a problem and they tell you to send it back to Germany for repairs.

Give the N362 billion in the budget for this scheme, to a renowned Netherlands mechanized farmer and allow the farmer to add additional N30billion to it as counterpart funding then let Nigerians invest/contribute over N500billion via shares in the company and get the farms listed on our stock exchange.
That’s when we can get some good results.
