The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by ₦20 per litre at its retail outlets in Abuja. The new price, effective from Saturday morning, is now ₦1,040 per litre, down from ₦1,060 per litre, providing slight relief to consumers amid ongoing high fuel costs.Business grants and incentives However, independently owned filling stations continue to charge higher prices, ranging from ₦1,115 to ₦1,120 per litre. Tinubu was too fast to remove fuel subsidy. If he had waited for Dangote refinery to start working before removing subsidy the price of Petrol wouldn't have gone beyond N450 per liter. You can see that from this reduction from Dangote. He is here to make profit but he knows that N899 is still a huge price to recover the money he spent on the refinery and break-even. Tinubu did not plan well enough for Nigerians, now that the refinery is working would have been the perfect time to remove subsidy. From N200 to N450 would not have been too much. 2 Likes |

Most Nigerian businesses increase prices during this period regardless of the economies of scale that typically pushes for discounts in Western economies. |

Competition is good for Economic development and total wellbeing of the citizens. Petrol price is coming back to as low as N500, all these they are doing is just rehearsal, let the competition continue, let other refineries come onboard fully. We shall all see the effect. richard870:You don't expect Dangote to buy crude oil at international market prices from government and sell petrol and other by-products well below international market price. Dangote isn't the only refinery in Nigeria, it is not a charity organisation. They are in business to make profit; over $21billion to build one of the largest refinery in Africa; a significant portion of cash which was acquired through loans is not something you allow Nigerians to use sentiments to destroy....... 4 Likes 2 Shares |
