lol the grim dark Superman narrative is such a shallow argument i have always come across to bash ZS "Superman"....All he humanity, saving people and all was all there in "Man of Steel" (2013), as for darker and bleak overtones of Bvs (2016) and JL (2017), it fits the narrative Zack Snyder was trying to tell, not every time hope and saving people...ZS wanted to present a side of Superman as a conflicted grounded character in a morally bankrupt world, and we probably needed to see that side of Supes, and imo it's totally justified in ZS creative vision for the character.

I had my issues with Bvs (2016), but Man of Steel (2013), Bvs (2016), JL (2017) and ZSJL (2021) weren't bad films by any stretch of the imagination.... misunderstood maybe.

Batman: This version of Batman had just been introduced so we had no reason to care about this aggressive and impulsive guy who had no trouble killing bad guys. He was so willing to jump into conclusions and so easily fooled that it made him difficult to root for.

Superman: Supes barely had any speaking lines in this. Now I believe this was probably a deliberate choice because he'd already had his own movie and Snyder was probably trying to present him from Batman's POV. That said, he could've at least tried to make him a character in this movie because the emotional payoffs didn't work as well with the way he was presented.

Lex Luthor: Only Lex Luthor by name. Jessie Eisenburg is a decent actor but was horrifically miscast in this role. Snyder characterised him closer to the Joker if anything. FFS, at least make him bald.

The fight: Was pretty boring if you ask me. The Martha thing is probably the single dumbest plot device I've seen in cinema. Just more Batman character assassination if you ask me. I mean, I know what Snyder was trying to go for with this scene but it fell completely flat.

Wonder Woman and the other JL stuff: Unnecessary bloat. Once again, the movie trying to do too much to set up the Justice League. Also, Gal Gadot cannot act.

Doomsday: More unnecessary bloat to set up the death of Superman storyline. His creation was absolute BS and Doomsday itself was an absolute CGI mess. Wasted potential.

All in all, this movie was rushed af. It shouldn't have been the second movie in the franchise. It tried to do too much and failed at almost everything. Snyder's edgy storytelling also didn't do Batman any favours.

Oh, and yeah, why Jesse Eisenburg?

The story. Cyborg and Flash's introductions, as well as, the team up was rushed. Same as Supes rejoining the team after the fight at his revival. Steppenwolf's motivation wasn't particularly compelling. He was just another "take over the world" villain.
Full disclosure, them initially releasing a trailer that featured scenes before the 2017 cut was another issue of mine, as it left a lot of questions unanswered.

I have no problems with the performances. They were the same as in ZSJL, just following a different script.

I don't remember having much problems with the CGI at the time. There were some flaws, sure, but not really anything that put me off or stuck out for the wrong reasons.

So, yeah, mostly the story.

ANORA.......8.9/10

A thrilling watch from start to finish. Didn't expect it to be this sexüally expl!c!t but it was refreshing.

It's a story about a forbidden love story between a strippér and a Russian oligarch's son. Really cool cinematography and lighting. Wildly funny and enjoyable. Rich writing and acting..... I loved the organic mixture of English and Russian in the movie. Fitted so perfectly between the characters interchanging between English and their ancestral Russian.
The movie isn't really deep on delivering a message but more focused on personal journeys and wild adventure. It's a look into the lives of immigrants and séx workers. A richly put together piece of storytelling.

The sexual tension between Anora and Igor was well done and performed. Kudos to the writer-director Sean Baker.

There's a subplot of having all the money in the world won't buy you a woman's affection. Igor didn't do much except for a few gestures and still secured the kitty.

Mikey Madison surely has Hollywood's gaze firmly set on her. Arguably one of the best movies of the year and I can see the hype.
I had mad fun watching this.

This has nothing to do with anything I said unless you are trying to say that Batman didn't kill anyone in this movie, which would be wrong.



Batman went from actively killing a dude to saving him because of a name because this version of Batman is impulsive and unintelligent.

He was actively ready to switch his convictions just like that. He never reasoned himself into deciding to go kill a guy in the first place so this emotional buffoon pretending to be Batman is ready to do an full 180 after hearing a name.



This mostly just opinion. I hated the fights and Jessie Eisenburg in this movie. If you liked them, then it is what it is. No point arguing.



Go watch The Death of Superman and see how much better the Doomsday plot could've been instead of the CGI slop we got.
