See the consequences of indoctrination? Even the Pope knows that Jesus wasn't born on December 25th.

Do you know that the origins of Christmas stem from both pagan and Roman cultures. It has nothing to do with the earliest Christians, who didn't celebrate Christmas.

In December, the Romans celebrated two festivals. Firstly, Saturnalua. This is a 2-weeks' festival honouring Saturn, their god of Agriculture. Secondly, on 25th December, they celebrated the birth of Mithra, the god of the Sun. Both celebrations were raucous, drunken parties. And as Christianity spread across Europe, Christian clergy were unable to curb these pagan cultures and celebrations. Given no one knew the date of Jesus' birth, they adopted this date (Dec 25) with a view to taking over the day and replacing those raucous, drunken parties with something more dognifying, enabling people to act with decorum.

Nigerians wake up to the reality that organised religion is a scam. Instead of travelling (some will die in the process) and celebrating Christmas, spend that money on something more positive and productive. Shalom.

So people shouldn't celebrate and travel to see their loved ones because Jesus wasn't born Dec 25th? Life is too short not to enjoy and spend quality time with loved ones. Let those who are celebrating and travelling do so. Abi na you want to give them money take drink , cook and celebrate?
